No it’ll be different. This will be primarily Regionally hosted. We aren’t talking fringe suburbs/towns.
This is going to be an unprecedented hosting approach for the games.

I think we should continue discussion on the logistics of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in another thread.
Seven will be keen to get the rights to the 2026 Games given the ratings success it enjoyed for the coverage of Gold Coast 2018.

Announced that there will be 4 hubs and each will have a village as well as satellite hubs.

Athletics in Ballarat? a great get for Ballarat but shows how far the commonwealth Games have fallen in the last 2 decades.
I thought events might be spread further to get more variety of scenery. nothing along the Murrray, in the desert near Mildura or great ocean road?
I think it is a great idea. It will bring jobs, growth and new facilities to these areas. It was just a surprise to me - I didn’t even know Victoria made a proposal.

Distance is the problem with it being too far for people from Melbourne to travel. Airports make a difference too and the opening ceremony can’t be over 6 hours away. It just wouldn’t make sense.
It would’ve been nice if at least some events were held in Melbourne.

Yep it is.
For those saying the events will be too hard to get to, the areas where the events will be all have regional train links, so although not a city metro style, there will still be transport to the areas. I imagine they will run at an increased timetable and I expect some high capacity regional trains to be announced as part of the state election too…

I will definitely use this as an opportunity to get out to some of the regional towns. I think it’s a really good move by the Victorian government.

There is some doubt about Ellyse Perry due to injury. If she plays I dont think she will be bowling
