2020 US Presidential Election - Media Coverage

On election night Stephen Colbert will be doing his late night show live and commercial free on Showtime, while CBS takes his usual spot with continuing election coverage. I hope this will be available in Australia, somehow.

You can bet Ten wouldn’t put this much effort into covering an Australian election debate.

This is all quite exciting. I for one, will be recording the raw transport streams (.TS) of each of the broadcast networks in Sydney, as well as multiple FM/DAB radio stations for the week leading up to the election, and after. I see the importance of archiving this for future viewing.

has anyone other than ABC (and perhaps Nine) covered these?

7 did ScoMo Vs Shorten last year.

The petty rivalries between Australian networks usually means the network that doesn’t have their star performer as moderator will largely ignore election debates or only use selected grabs. Seven used to get their knickers in a knot all the time when Ray Martin acted as moderator and would refuse to air footage.

Yet there was a chorus of voices on here that criticised about 10 not covering the last US election debate… and now their copping flack for covering the next one?

Can they ever win?

Agree, I have no idea what they’re thinking anymore.

What’s the point in them simulcasting the main channel to the news channel all day?

Interesting approach by way of using the CBS News brand. I like it. A departure from the previous “with our global resources, we will bring you the full story.”
