Sorry I was talking about news.

I feel for the journos, they did excellent work.

It’s another example, like Buzzfeed was as well, of how free content online cannot be viable. Paywalled news sites in Australia can reach in one day what 10 Daily would see in a month - I know that for a fact. And those organisations get a decent amount of their income from subscriptions.

Networks like 10 need to realise that monetising online portals is hard. Nine and Seven have managed to get by through sheer scale - especially Nine seems to have embedded most of its brands like 9 News, WWOS and 9Honey into the mainstream and 7News.com.au has been a runaway success through social media virulence. But 10 Daily - I’ve never seen it appear on my Facebook feed or come up in a Google news listing. Unless you LOOKED for it or were a journo in the industry, 10 Daily was obscure.

Which is a shame, because it had a lot of potential to turn out successfully.

I’m more referring to those articles you linked to intimating that dozens are done for. That’s not what I’ve heard.

How far does 10 trail 2, 7 and 9 online for news?

That says something about their online marketing effort to get it out front.

Based on the latest Nielsen Digital Content Ratings available, 10daily was outside the top 10. According to a report in SMH yesterday, 10 Daily attracted 4 million unique visitors in April.

A sad moment for 10.

At the time of its announcement and initial launch, 10 Daily was a token of prosperity for many on these forums, it signaled a new direction for 10 after many years of neglect. I think we were all secretly excited and hopeful the venture would become a success.

It was successful when it came to cultivating its target audience, considering how behind the ball 10 was. I very much think this would’ve stayed around if 2020 wasn’t the global shitshow (sorry, it is very much that) it is. Unfortunately, those CPMs dove, people think they’ll be down there for a while, and it is my speculation that ViacomCBS gave 10 either an assessment to “do this list of things now” or a savings goal and a deadline.

The Network10Comms Twitter account has been scrubbed of most if not all 10daily metric posts. They can still be found on the corps site.

I imagine in the next few days it will redirect to 10play.

Just under two weeks to go until it’s inevitably redirected.

Hopefully someone uploads it to the wayback machine!

Why don’t you do it @foxyrover?

Not sure how many of the articles are on the Archive.org’s database, but there seems to be plenty of entries of 10daily.com.au from this year and last on the Wayback Machine:
