Suspect with Hayley Holt poised to go on maternity leave, he’ll be the second sport anchor alongside Andrew Saville for a fair chunk so they’ve pulled Jenny out to do Midday.

Can’t say I’m surprised… she was hardly ever there anyway. Would be nice if Wendy got the Tonight job. I suspect there will be quite a bit of presenter musical chairs over the next few weeks and months.

He would be an awesome fit for the breakfast team

I wish Jenny was going on breakfast, they were great last year

Jenny Suo anchored Midday today and Wendy Petrie will anchor Tonight tonight…

Did NZME offer WP a full time radio newsreading gig so TVNZ gave her Tonight I wonder…

My understanding is that Jenny’s change was purely a lifestyle desire.

I’d be (very pleasantly) surprised if Wendy Petrie becomes a permanent anchor on Tonight. Her salary from her 6pm days would’ve been much, much higher than Jenny Suo’s.

John Campbell has been breakfast in the last few years. His co presenters are just side pieces, although I do like Jenny-May in this role.

I am sure Matty McLean is just holding out for a gig that showcases himself and not much more…. It’s just that he has also had to cover news to stay on screen.

That makes a lot of sense - when she was the main presenter of Tonight it seemed like she was on Breakfast/Midday more than her own show!

I’m reluctant to make judgements online about people I don’t know. And I’m pretty sure he was a reporter for TVNZ prior to his current role. But I have to agree his on-air and social media style would suggest he’s much more self-promotion and not driven by a passion for news and journalism. Of course, he is probably playing up to a role that TVNZ want him to perform.

Personally I wouldn’t mind working evenings / nights (without doing a real ‘overnight’ shift), and having the mornings free… But fair enough if it gets difficult. Especially for people who like to socialise.

Why are the lower thirds red when it’s not breaking news

I’ve wondered this ever since they started using them like that. They could at least use “6 o’clock blue” instead of “breaking news red” to distinguish breaking news from the regular stuff

Seems like a Yurisich initiative…almost as a ‘explainer’ for key stories.

Last Year Daniel Faitaua asked TVNZ to extend his role as Europe Correspondent for 1 more year. That was in August. Who will be the next Correspondent?

Good question.

It wouldn’t surprise to see Daniel Faitaua return home and take over the vacant Breakfast spot.

If Newshub were clever enough not to replace Tom on weekends for the mean time and as Mikes main fill in, once Daniel returns they could make him an offer to come over to them.

I wonder if Jenny Suo would take it

@TVGeekNZ Daniel Faitaua is currently at TVNZ, although he is still based in London as its Europe correspondent and president of the Foreign Press Association (FPA).

When they refresh the graphics I hope they move away from the colour red as that is Newshubs primary colour
