Can’t speak for what it’s replacing or the content, but looks like they’ve put a couple of home couches in otherwise empty studio and home job coffee table.

Don’t mind the graphics though.

That’s the Olympics/Lotto studio, Studio 3.

That wooden thing they had for a set was staged directly opposite the screen.

I am quite shocked it wasn’t coming from a curved screen already, about time

Trying to grab The AM Show’s audience?

Welcome back!

I wonder why they started early.

I think because breakfast is always late to the news so they are trying to be on time?

I watched a bit this morning, and jeez it’s a little rough in a few places.

Coming to and from ad breaks is messy, timing seems off and the hosts weren’t ready and didn’t know what were happening sometimes.

John’s a good operator, but I don’t think this show is for him. He tries to steal the show a bit, he’d be better back on a current affairs show.

I missed Matty’s humour too, but the other weather presenter (can’t remember her name) wasn’t too bad.

They should just start at 5.30.

You mean the TVNZ version of Campbell Live (replacing Seven Sharp)?

I like Seven Sharp as it is, John should be on Q & A, as well as Fair Go with Pippa

What about Jack Tame?

@Leotv Over in Australia, Channels Seven and Nine have their respective breakfast shows start at 5.30am local time. But here in New Zealand, it’s a regular 6am start but breakfast television starts half an hour earlier (5.30am) in the event of breaking news.

LOVE John. He’s one of the best journos in the world, imo. But Breakfast isn’t for him. He performs his best when solo, not having to come up with team banter. His Breakfast one-on-one ivs are great.

Not sure where TVNZ could put him though.

I actually think Jack Tame would be good over on discovery, on the am show instead of Duncan Garner

I just find Campbell doing Breakfast so strange.

He joins TVNZ as a roving reporter to get out of the studio, exhausted after 20 years of doing daily.

Surviving 10 years at 7 o’clock on television is brutal and its tough . . . I just was exhausted . . . After 20 years of it, the studio was becoming tough for me. It was a conscious effort of will to just get up and get up and get up.

Tells of his exit from TV3

in the end I couldn’t find a way to stay without betraying what I wanted to stay for. I mean, they wanted me to interview contestants from The Block. I didn’t become a journalist to do that shit and if you’re not prepared to do the shit your employer wants you to do, then you’ve gotta go.

And now…

Id say its doing what you signed up for. Campbell Live was news and current affairs. Breakfast and Seven Sharp are both of those with light entertainment added in.

When John initally signed up for Seven Sharp, his expectations would have already been for the show to be much less serious with more fluff than Campbell Live

He didn’t sign up for Seven Sharp?
