Now to go back on topic; how many years will this Netflix co-produced version of “Zumbo’s Gets His Just Deserts in the Ratings” last?
Because I don’t think it will last beyond next year. I don’t know how sucessful it will be on Netflix but I see it going into Just Dance territory on 7. The fact that the show had a 2 year hiatus would tell the viewer “hey this show flopped, it must not be good” and I could see that reputation turning off viewers.
I hope not. Format fatigue will ensue if they go overboard in the cooking space. Especially with MKR starting to slip big time and probably launching their 2019.
After I saw Rachel Khoo appearing on tonight’s My Kitchen Rules grand final, I looked up on her Instagram and found out that she was in Sydney in November and December last year, filming season 2 of Zumbo’s Just Desserts as well as the MKR GF. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrU0klGnmNm/
Season 2 will be on Seven and Netflix later this year.
I never thought they’d waste it on 7two. They need a good timeslot and to promote it well. Not wreck it and waste it, like they did with Instant Hotel.
Get set for another delicious and delectable helping of ZUMBO’S JUST DESSERTS!
Season two of the hugely successful dessert cooking competition sees Australia’s very own Willy Wonka, Adriano Zumbo, and Britain’s Queen of Desserts, Rachel Khoo, return as series hosts.
Developed and produced by Seven Studios, this second instalment is a co-production with Netflix which sees amateur desert makers from around the country put their sweet making skills to the test until the ultimate dessert king or queen is crowned.
Following its 2016 Australian premiere, where it averaged 1.3 million combined TV viewers, ZUMBO’S JUST DESSERTS continued to charm audiences around the globe.
It’s now been seen in over 190 counties with sales to Netflix + MediaWorks TV3 in New Zealand, Blue Ant Media in Canada, Discovery Asia-Pacific, Middle-East & North Africa.
Ten passionate dessert makers will be put to the test in Zumbo’s candy-coloured Dessert Factory, where the magic begins.
In every episode, Zumbo will set a Sweet Sensations Task. Cooking to Zumbo’s special brief and theme, they’ll have to create a dessert using their creative skills and imagination.
There’ll be plenty of thrills and spills as they battle the factory clock and their nerves to finish on time.
Judges Adriano and Rachel will taste and critique all their creations. The two dessert makers with the weakest creations must then compete in The Zumbo Test.
Known as the Patissier of Pain, Adriano will unveil a fantastical jaw-dropping never-before-seen creation from underneath the Dessert Dome, which the bottom two contestants must replicate.
It’s a baptism of fire with someone sent home every episode.
The winner of the competition will take home $100,000 in prize money to make their sweet dreams come true.
They’ll bake. They’ll create. But only one will rise. Who will be Australia’s best?
It launched to barely 1m, in a year when MKR was still pulling 1.9m metro for its biggest episodes and straight out of Olympics! Didn’t it lose viewers big each week too?
