Winning Arvo

I was thinking this too. Doing it all at the top of the hour still allows an easy channel swap as they won’t have missed much of their favourite show (most likely TP)

I miss the station idents with the logo and the cityname before the start of every program.. and the occassion signpost to show what is on the network tonight.

Yesterday the entire afternoon was filled with shows attracting six-digit audiences.

No other networks can do that.

So yeah, a bit of success for the “block”, probably to the contrary of most.

If we use the metric of “TCA-TP gap”, then no, it has worked against the goal. 130k on Friday rising to 172k on Monday and 178k yesterday.

You must be reading my mind, just thinking about it now. It’s Wednesday and we haven’t discussed the ratings.

The problem is that we essentially have no goalposts given as to the definition of WA’s success.

So if we look at it broadly from a face-value standpoint, it’s actually… fine. Not Earth-shattering, just fine.

Alex apparently thinks Blankety Blanks is on again after this. Not a good day for him today. Game 2: $100. $10,700 still in the pot.

Oh they’re lucky only $100 this time! :winking_face_with_tongue: And that news update was useless!

Something must be up, I was watching the Queensland feed and he correctly said BoL is coming up.

When he was talking to the winner at the start of the game bit.

Was about to comment on that too. Then he clearly introduces Bridge of Lies.

News headlines too rushed. And the white background behind Alex for the news is awful. Separate the news break and game breaks and it could be done a bit better.

In Sydney he definitely said that blankety blanks was on again?

That wasn’t the tail end of the segment. Sorry about that. I got the timestamp mixed up.

Anyway, there was a correction. Better than not.

If the aim of the Winning Arvo was to build an audience so that The Chase would perform better, it hasn’t shifted the needle at all.

So far the ratings have been lower that what Seven achieved the previous week in the timeslot.

Last Tuesday had an MRK encore for 2 hours that had 213,000. That followed Seven News at Noon that had 200,000.

How on earth did Sean Power put this together? And didn’t he move to Melbourne for this crap? This really diminishes the 7 News brand. Absolutely shit television.

Seven was getting those and higher ratings in the afternoon with encores of reality shows and movies.

Do they show the same game shows through the week? Or do they have right to a whole variety of different game shows then mix it up?

I mean, even at this early stage, the question is which ends up as the bigger failure in news this year, News+ or Winning Arvo.

Same shows everyday.

The difference is afternoons used to not have hourly headline recaps.

You could attribute (part of) the audience drop to that. There’s a section of the audience who can only put up with the news at bulletin hours, not every other hour in-between. (Unless they’re watching a news-dedicated channel.)

If the shows currently being aired has no news to start with, we might be talking roughly the same figures.

There, fixed it for you.:winking_face_with_tongue::wink:
