WIN News

This was so they could get the national news stories in from Nine so they could edit out sign offs etc from the mainland feeds before going to air I’m pretty sure.

I’m fairly certain WIN never edited any of the Nine reporters signoffs. However, they now edit out the Ten reporter signoffs.

How were they able to get the national bulletin to air earlier only a few years later though?

Nine’s reporter sign offs were edited out.

I think this was a different thing each year as to how they handled things. It was a very confusing month when this used to occur, each network changed how they handled it every year but I do remember WIN moving the news to 7 some years. I don’t recall Southern Cross ever changing but I do remember them simply removing Today Tonight at times and putting on alternative programming.

Once again, changed frequently. I know there were plenty which used to go to air, my mum couldn’t stand “Charles Christian, National Nine News” all the time. As you say, I don’t think I’ve heard any on Ten.
Nine’s reporter sign offs were edited out.
Actually, having gone through a couple more bits and pieces of old bulletins, WIN were very erratic with some Nine-sourced reports left intact with the signoffs and others edited out entirely (lazy or time contraints perhaps?). These days with Ten affiliation though all the signoffs are getting edited out by WIN.
Yes seems like going by my previous comment above. Indeed. WIN are editing out all the Ten signoffs (can’t say I’ve noticed any slip-ups thus far, apart from a few ‘live crosses’ where they are obviously not talking to WIN’s presenters with crosses to and from with Brad McEwan being named by reporters instead of Brent Costelloe! :stuck_out_tongue:).
I’ve got a promo of this which I’ll cap.
This is the weekend version but there is weeknight version which got taped over incomplete.

WIN News promo

WTF is that promo. Win’s news directors / marketing people approved that? God, that is bad. This from Australia’s self-proclaimed largest TV network. The copy is so basic and elementary. There is no "sell’ / “reason tow watch” The music and shot choice is so wrong. They don’t tell me why i should watch. They’ don’t sell the newsreader -

Imagine if Ten, Nine or Seven dished up a promo that bad:

EVERY NIGHT AT 6

9 NEWS BRINGS YOU A DEDICATED HOUR

OF THE LATEST NEWS, SPORT AND WEATHER

FOR BRISBANE, THE GOLD COAST, AND IPSWICH

9 NEWS. YOUR LOCAL NEWS.

That’s it.

So lame, WIN. They need to get Ten to make their promos for them

You’ll find that Southern Cross were able to use Network Ten stories during DST transition so there was no need to move the time… WIN didn’t have the luxury of a duel affiliation.

The metros do put out promos just as bad as this one.

Nine News dishes up promos that one could mistake for A Current Affair and Ten don’t promote their own news service.

suffice to say the rank and file are doing their best . . .

Has Win News changed their watermark to reflect Nine’s?

Of course not.

Reason why I asked was because I saw a new watermark on Win News Ilawarra’s Facebook.

And wondering if it was on any other bullion.

I believe that WIN News only uses that watermark for stories posted to Facebook. It isn’t used on-air.

Looks very much like the current 9News watermark IMO.

Only used on NSW/ACT Facebook reports for some reason. Other regions use the massive bug seen on the bulletins.

Although I’ve noticed they were still able to get in reports sourced from Seven for 6pm. Clearly WIN weren’t able to do the same thing during those periods.
