Are WIN redeploying staff from the areas that are being reduced?

Apparently so:

“While there is expected to be significant job losses in Victoria and Queensland, the creation of a new state bulletin in NSW will see WIN employing some additional local news-gathering staff in rural NSW to serve this region.” - TV Black Box

So July 1 falls on a Thursday. Will the changes take effect on that exact day or on a Monday before that or the following Monday after that?

Exact day.

Great to see some old familiar faces there. Didn’t even recognise Tom Payne though. He looked to have put on a bit of weight (a healthy amount, not fat shaming!), which I hope is a good thing as elderly people are often underweight. He looked well and good to see Wendy Kennedy and some other faces through there as well.

The entire schedule is changing that day anyway so it makes sense to have it all change on the one day, ordinarily the changes would happen on a Sunday/Monday but with this one it’s an entire schedule change so everything is all changing.

The change occurs at midnight that morning, as that is when the network loses its access to the old feed.

Might make sense for WIN News to go to the statewide format from the previous Monday though - even if it airs at 6pm for the first few days.

Ask Ten to produce a condensed 5-5.30pm News edition and then WIN News at 5.30? Then back to Ten News Live at 6 for some uniformity?

Nah Ten won’t want to help them.

WIN can always crash out of the bulletin at 5:30.

You had me until the “Ask Ten” bit… lol. Can only imagine the response at a request like that in the dying days of an agreement when WIN blindsided them (just like SCA did last time!)
Although being to WIN they might have to fax through a picture of the finger they are giving.

Fax? That’s way too modern for WIN and I’ve worked for them before. Surely a Telex machine is more fitting.

Why? WIN news uses different graphics to Ten News I wonder if it will use different graphics to the 9 news come 1st July?

WIN News Illawarra viewers were welcomed twice by Bruce Roberts tonight when the opener played twice.

they have the space and with reduced bulletins they should go live from July 1

Is it just the space of are there other considerations if they were to go live (equipment, more crew) etc that would negate some of their forthcoming cost savings?

Funny you said that, There were issues on Shepparton News tonight too News Article played out of sequences and even the sport talking about AFL player who are not even associated with the area and then they played the Article about a local sports museum.

it could be just the space, im led to believe they already have the staff, but i think the way they have their control rooms set up might be the limiting factor, shame though. But good on them for still having local news in some form, SCA are useless.
