Getting ready to produce news again from Ballarat when they’re a Nine affiliate in 2021. Ok no more of this

Seeing that Southern Cross still own their Bendigo studio and local bulletins are coming out of GTV9, I doubt it.

They should’ve moved it to 7:00pm to go against ABC in ACT etc.

ACA can easily go on 9Gem and may boost viewing shares on their multi-channels as-well…

They did that back in 2014 and they got hammered by the ABC i believe. Canberra MS Users correct me if i’m wrong.

No, the 7pm shift was a ratings disaster for WIN News ACT. They were crushed by ABC News

After July 1, will WIN news have a similar background and logo to 9 news local in 9 southern cross?

People are going nuts tonight.

Thankfully this only happens every 5 years… now either 7 or never again depending on how things play out again now!

I am. I can’t understand it

So maybe give it a little while before all the details come out? Going nuts won’t make the details come out any faster.

Hopefully this will be THE last major affiliation reshuffle in Australian regional television before most (if not all) the metro/regional network mergers happen.

One of the major advantages of residing in a major metropolitan market likely to always have its three main commercial TV stations owned and operated by the networks is the ability to sit back and watch things unfold. Although I do feel for all Media Spy members who reside in various parts of regional Australia who are soon going to have to endure another affiliation swap, probably having just gotten used to the changes made last time!

Let’s be clear as well, there’s a lot of chatter in this forum because it’s what we’re interested in.

I’ve lived outside the metropolitan markets for most of my life, and I can confidently say that the vast majority of people couldn’t give a rats about who’s affiliated with who. People will still find their programs by cycling through the TV Guide and selecting the show they want. A couple of weeks of promos, a couple more weeks of minor chatter about shows being on new channels, and this will all fade down to zilch. Speaking from experience after the 2016 affiliation swap.

I’m just shocked because 9 only gave southern cross 5 years, if they weren’t happy maybe they could have calmed down and give southern cross more time to sort out things I think the latest decision is too rushed. Creating too much confusion for everybody that’s what I meant

It’s just money and business son.

there was nothing to sort out, the existing contract had a pre-defined end date and WIN negotiated a better offer with Nine than SCA for the next contract. That’s pretty much the end of the story and similar things happen in business all the time.
