WIN News (2015-Feb 2025)

Totally depends on what night, what blockbuster TDT Southern Cross or WIN is broadcasting

Melissa Russell presenting the Wollongong and Canberra bulletins tonight with Amy Duggan on sport. Amy is also presenting the Wagga and Orange bulletins solo, along with sport on the Victorian bulletins.

Why can’t they use this news update look for all bulletins rather than the ugly as fucked keyed background they’re still using from their 9 affiliation?

It only looks about a million times nicer than currently, better yet do something personalised for each market to appear to be more ‘local’…

Please tell me that didn’t go to air

Surely they’d think that they would put something on that orange first at five cover up. Obviously if they had a news website that would be good but even just the regular wintv.com.au would be better than nothing. Useless

This why we have students studying Media, Communications and/or journalism. Maybe they don’t end up at Win News in Tasmania.

I think the orange cover up is the least of their worries when they’re writing captions like that

…or why not put that “Tasmania’s News” line on the orange strip?

Although I agree with TVAU, they need to work on the spelling/grammar on their supers first!

I think that was what the poster was referring to when they posted the image.

This takes the cake. WIN have really outdone themselves haha

The misalignment with the supers to coverup is still present believe it or not. This along with the different use of fonts (and bolded and unbolded) in use on the supers from report to report.

I agree about doing something with that empty orange strip. Either put something like their website, or reuse an old slogan of theirs in ‘Tasmania’s Best News’ on it, or better still just remove it altogether as it’s no longer covering anything up unlike before.

I don’t know, got it off Mediawatch.

I agree the update key looks better than the one in normal use on bulletins, I quickly mocked up and overlayed a region specific skyline picture, which gives it a more local feel. I also prefer the key with the plasma used on the All Australian News, use that for OTS graphics.

It would make it feel less flat using different angles, than using the one same background for the entire bulletin.

Haha, alright. That’s pretty ordinary (even for WIN!). :relieved:

Just looked at the guides for this weekend, and not surprising to see that yet again there’s no WIN News for Tasmania due to Bathurst coverage.

Since moving their weeknight bulletins back to 6pm, one has to wonder why they didn’t move the weekend bulletins back to 6pm too. Really, they could’ve made the move this weekend with the Supercars coverage finishing at 6pm and opted out of Ten’s schedule of ‘Territory Cops’ and ‘Family Feud’ on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Unfortunately, I think we’re more likely to see WIN News Tasmania eventually axing their weekend bulletins rather than moving them to 6pm!

Probably. Just move it and then axe it then. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I saw a newish truck in Wollongong today. I noticed they don’t put the channel names on them anymore (unlike a car I saw a few months ago with GEM, GO etc on the back), just simply “The WIN Network.”

If you ask me, WIN News really needs to refresh their On-Air Presentation before they get to their news vans, etc.
