Bruce Roberts has returned to presenting WIN News Illawarra after being absent for at least three months.
I don’t know if i’m just reading into things too much, but his voice sounds different to how it did before. I have the suspicion that he has been suffering from symptoms of long-covid and he took time off for medical reasons.
He gave a bit of a lengthy speech at the end of tonight’s bulletin and thanked everyone at WIN for “all of their support” over the past few months. I genuinely feel sorry for him more than anything.
Just watched Bruce Roberts’ message on the WIN News Illawarra Facebook page. His voice sounds worse, but I’ve got to admit it is quite funny. But I do think if his voice sounds like that he needs to resign from WIN. I also saw on the WIN News Illawarra Facebook page that he and Sarah Cawte shared presenting.
Not a big deal since WIN News has declined where it is not local anymore (except in the Illawarra and Canberra markets) and the presentation and quality of the bulletins are stale.
If he was a presenter at GTV9 then I can imagine he’d not be back presenting when his voice isn’t normal. He’d have to resign from GTV9.
It is unique in that it is the last family owned tv operator, the last one to make it this far. As for best news, well he should be promoting his product. If he said otherwise, it would look bad on his part internally. He’s actually quite lucky to have the support to even produce that video. I probably would have probably preferred to keep things wrapped up because opening up personally online generally only leads one way over time and it ain’t good as a mainstream broadcaster that needs to maximise its audience as its livelihood.
He has an irritating habit of looking to his side or down at his papers at the start of every report. He’s been doing this ever since he started presenting WIN News in 2009. He also breathes when he starts talking which is irritating too.
I’m honestly surprised on the Seven News Presenters & Reporters thread that no one has complained that Peter Mitchell looking down at his papers at the start of every report is irritating also.
