WIN News (2015-Feb 2025)

Only if WIN agrees to, which I’m doubtful WIN will agree to it.

I have a feeling that WIN and 9 will eventually merge one day or 9 may buy WIN eventually. I’m not sure if shareholders will agree, should that happen I believe that local news will be put in 5 minute window similar to NBN News but included in the metro 9 news bulletin. WIN News as we know it may eventually end in its current format. Or it may not.

But why? Your constant doubting of WIN’s relationship with Nine is so 2020. So much has changed man. They’d jump at an offer from Nine.

You’re so wise

Why wouldn’t they? Worked for 7. And Nine has retained NBN and Darwin when they could have divested, which indicates an interest in regional licences.

When Bruce “retires” I’d bet penny to a pound Nine will snap it up.

So much try-hardness here. Does WIN News QLD come from Rocky or the Gong?

All from the Great Gong

The only things that are great about the Gong is the Snakepit and the fact you host the darts.

Sadly the studio in rocky had been demolished years ago.:sob::sob::sob::sob:

Yes, after that, news came from the Sunshine Coast before it was moved again to Wollongong

There also used to be a studio in Toowoomba to serve the Sunshine Coast and darling downs news but that studio too was closed and the Sunshine Coast Studio replaced both the Rockhampton and Toowoomba studios. Then as you said it lately has been read from the ‘gong.

There has been some years where the Toowoomba news were read out from the studio in Rockhampton along with the central and North Queensland news sometime in the 1990s.

Or wherever WIN has their Queensland studios. I thought it was Rocky but I was wrong.

The studios did exist in both Rockhampton and Toowoomba a long time ago but both of them was shut with one of the premises where the old studio used to exist demolished. The old WIN Queensland headquarters were demolished in north Rockhampton with the replacement being a smaller sales office in Rockhampton city CBD somewhere

As for the Toowoomba premises they still exist on the top of Mount lofty bar the studio.

The reason there were 2 studios operating in Queensland at once was because Queensland is a large state geographically unlike Victoria.

As mentioned as above those 2 studios were replaced with a studio on the sunshine Coast before WIN centralised the studios In Wollongong.

Probably thinking of Maroochydore, not sure of the status of that facility now.

That’s the one.

I think it was more the legacy of pre-aggregation WIN stations DDQ and RTQ having studios in Toowoomba and Rockhampton.

It’s probably a sales office now with a small studio for news updates for the Queensland regions just prior to the news. Not sure if that studio is still operational as the majority of the news updates are done in the ‘gong now.

I’m not sure if the Sunshine Coast premises are still in the same location or whether they have relocated as I type
