I think win news by getting a reporter in regions like albury and wagga is so when people whinge about statewide editions. Win News will then say without state edition they wouldnât be able to resume coverage in those areas like albury and wagga. Well thats just my theory
Rubbish. Youâll still get local stories, but there will be fewer of them that is certain.

As previously stated, to meet their television licence agreements, they need to cater for local content that focuses on that market or region. They wonât be showing NSWs reports into Victoria.

Yes, complete nonsense. There will still be a reporter based in Ballarat, Bendigo, Shep, Traralgon and reinstated in Albury reporting on stories local to those towns and regions but there will be fewer. Watch your local Ballarat bulletin tomorrow and see how many stories are genuinely local to western Victoria, then remove 2/3 of them to get an idea of what youâll see post 1st July with stories from other regions in the mix.

nope i have listened to what leo said 3 times and still says in victoria however there wont just be any local news you probably just see a lot more genertic stories starting the 1st jully. and thats from leos interview

Thatâs your prerogative, but please donât be shocked when you continue to see local stories on WIN News. Why not sack everyone if they have zero intention of producing any local news stories?

Youâre obviously misinterpreting this. Leo is right or wrong depending how you interpret what he is saying. WIN News Ballarat, a local news service, wonât be produced any more. That is what he means by saying âthere will be no more local newsâ. Leo understands that the local stories will be part of a new statewide bulletin.

If there was going to be no local news stories then WIN shouldâve just axed the bulletins rather than having a half hour of nothing.

For some reason tonightâs fake throw to weather (made to look like its happening in real time in the same studio) looked more fake than usual, there was just a bit too big a pause

Obviously one of their ways to meet the new 50% revenue deal with Nine. It shows how desperate the affiliates donât wanna associate with 10.
Sad day for journalism once again. It seems that the only positive weâve seen since pre-covid is the return of the Nine News Darwin.
It seems WIN are going to cover Nine News Localâs footprint with skeleton resources?

Markets under 500,000 - which is many. Itâs hard to make the economics make sense.
Iâd love to see live 7 Tasmania or 7 Gold Coast or NBN quality news for QLD, VIC, SNSW etc - but win wonât use this as an opportunity to evolve the product at all. It will be the incredibly stale and static format from the 90s still
