WIN News (2015-Feb 2025)

From what I can tell, it appears to have aired in Queensland.

Really odd that they mentioned it on a Queensland Facebook page, it’s like giving a farewell to Adelaide’s John Riddell on the Nightly News in Tassie! I get the AAN though.

Did Geoff ever present a Queensland bulletin?

I recall seeing him do updates a few times earlier this year (Sunshine Coast and there was one other) not sure if he also presented those bulletins on those nights.

The past six months, WIN have rotated their presenters more across their East Coast markets.

Maybe now that the old dinosaurs are fading out WIN could spruce up the news with some fresh young talent and a redesign to look more young and fresh in line with channel ten

Apparently WIN News Tasmania got its highest figures of the year last Tuesday.

Off a pretty low base generally IIRC. It is amazing WIN have maintained their local bulletin against the juggernaut that Southern Cross have been for a long time now.

It looks like the Alive and Cooking set has been turned into news studio:

Tanya Dendrinos presented tonight.

It turns out Geoff Phillips read his last bulletin on Wednesday, December 4. Saturday’s Illawarra Mercury report on his retirement was virtually a cut and paste of the media release issued by WIN. No quotes from Geoff himself. Very odd.

Not the only fantasy WIN News was indulging in tonight. They also utilised the services of a psychic in a report concerning a 40 years old missing persons cold case.

I think Bruce Gordon believes in a certain triangle that is close by to where he lives.

Pity he didn’t consult a psychic before he acquired all those Ten shares that would turn out to be worthless.

Brent Costelloe presenting sport on location in Tasmania tonight.

Melissa Russell has been presenting Queensland and Tasmania this week. Amy Duggan on sport.

Believe this is Amy’s first time presenting in QLD and Melissa’s first time on the TAS bulletin.
