I really like Jacs - would love to see her back story as a prequel.
Myra from Prisoner was an interesting one…another top dog character who was abused by her husband and ended up in jail not dissimilar to Beas story…very much into prisoner reform.

Probably a stupid question, but the explosion aftermath was CGI? Where we see the van exploding in the sallyport along with buliding falling to pieces on the outside?
Yep, definitely CGI - hopefully Gary Sweet was far away from it!
Just rewatching last night’s ep and picking up on different things then I’ll probably end up starting all over again now that it’s on Binge. Was hoping it would go there - wish I’d known it was going to be today though, I wouldn’t have stayed up so late last night as Binge was the only way I could watch it which had to be by watching the show live or the repeats of it.

Wow. They actually destroyed the set for the post bomb scenes. I thought it was all smoke and mirrors.
The finale was the last program to be reviewed on Gogglebox this week, allowing FTA viewers like me to see some of the scenes from the episode.
And the Goggleboxers liked it.
Do we know whether the ABC is showing any more seasons?

Barnhurst would be a great option as a Wentworth spinoff, that’s where a lot were ‘shanghai’d’ to in Prisoner and as a prison farm would provide a very different setting. Quite a few original characters yet to be reimagined. Maybe even an origin opportunity for Jacs Holt, Myra Desmond, Chrissie Latham, Margo Gaffney, Helen Smart, Nola McKenzie. More Ann Reynolds story to be told.

The 2024 Wentworth Con was held in Sydney last week.
The show’s Facebook page has been more active recently, sharing short clips from Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 1, as well as posting the full episodes.
Wentworth: The Next Chapter is coming to Binge.
Danielle Cormack (Bea Smith in Wentworth) made the announcement at the AACTA Awards this afternoon. She said the new series would focus on life after prison, parole, survival and the hope of renewal, and all the major characters from Wentworth would return.

Hopefully they can come up with a better title.
Maybe Wentworth: On the Outside? Or even leave Wentworth out of the title and only use it in promos.
I suppose the series finale did leave the door open for some kind of return, along with the rumours over the years.
I’m assuming this is being considered a new series and that it will receive some level of industry funding; otherwise, it’s unlikely it would’ve been approved?
It’ll be interesting to see how this develops - whether it’s planned as a full season (10–12 episodes) or a limited series, how many seasons they envision long term, and whether filming will return to Victoria, where the original series was shot.
Looking forward to the sequel.

That was how they got away with the last two seasons as they split it and gave it a sub title.
I think if it’s a new title and a “new series” it’ll be eligible.
Must dramas now can get funding if it’s a new title (even sub title and pitched as a “spin off” even in reality it’s not)
