Following is a summary of the 9Network’s Week 8 TV ratings performance, across all key demographics in commercial share:
The 9Network won the week with all key demos and Total People, recording the following Total TV primetime shares across the 5 City Metro:
People 25-54: 43%
People 16-39: 44%
Grocery Shopper 18+: 41%
Total People: 40%
9Now was also the No.1 commercial free-to-air (CFTA) BVOD platform, recording the following shares across Australia (measured across the entire day):
People 25-54: 52%
People 16-39: 56%
Grocery Shopper 18+: 50%
Total People: 50%
Married at First Sight has once again cemented itself as Australia’s No.1 program. Last week it took out the Top 4 rankings with People 25-54, 16-39, GS 18+ and Total People.
Sunday’s episode of Married at First Sight was the No.1 program of the week by audience, recording a Total TV average audience of 1.981 million, including 633,000 on 9Now. This number will increase in the weeks ahead, as the BVOD number continues to build.
The strength of 9Now was illustrated with more people in the key demographic of 16-39 watching the Sunday and Monday episodes of Married at First Sight on 9Now than on linear. In the 16-39 demographic, MAFS has had a stronger audience across 9Now than the next best performing program (Australian Survivor) has had across Total TV.
Seven took out week two of the survey by a margin of 0.1% while Nine won the key demo groups. 10 got a 1 point boost this week thanks to Saturday’s result while Seven, ABC and Nine were steady and SBS lost share.
Seven’s win included wins in Adelaide, Perth and regional Australia with Nine wining the three east coast cities as well as the 5-city market. Seven’s biggest share came in Perth while Brisbane delivered Nine’s best number.
Married at First Sight topped all rankings again for Nine. Idol ranked 12th, just ahead of The 1% Club for Seven while The Matildas V Uzbekistan match was 10’s best result with Survivor next best in 35th place in the average audience table. ABC’s saw Four Corners rank 11th with the network’s best non news program Death in Paradise.
Just outside the top 30 included The One Hundred, 31st, Darby and Joan 32nd and Mr Bates V The Post Office 33rd.
The Chase Australia was 37th and Tipping Point Australia 39th.
With the numbers now focusing on the national figure and not metro, I assume that the week won will now also change to focus on national share since the 2023 weeks won was metro focused

Please note: The report includes BVOD live minutes only and is not restricted to the five metropolitan cities. When broadcasters upgrade their video players, player measurement SDKs may take time to reach consumer devices (consumers need to update their apps) and may temporarily result in under-reporting a broadcaster’s video player figures.
