With two weeks of the survey to go itâs all tied up at 19 weeks won each between Seven and Nine. For the calendar year Nine is on 24 weeks with Seven winning 22 weeks.
Nineâs two point victory included wins in all demos and was helped by a strong performance by ICC World Cricket as the networkâs top ranked entertainment offering a Bee Gees special was just 28th.
Seven improved to a 5-week high with The 1% Club a highlight for the network on Sunday night. The debut season of Dessert Masters on 10 saw three of its episodes make the top 20 for.
Several multichannles posted improved results with the overall percentage watching the third highest of the survey, only bettered by the midyear Ashes.
Love Island continued to rank best in the BVOD ratings.
9âs big win last night will help it claim itâs 20th week as I said the other day⊠itâs up to 7 to even up the weekly tally in the final week; they should be able to retain the higher overall percentage share.
Interesting how when a network has momentum, it all seems to all fall their way⊠9 is on a roll with the Australians making the WCC final and against the odds, winning, creating a a bumper result for 9.
9 is in a good position for 2024⊠looking like the 9 of old⊠except theyâre behind in news and breakfast⊠and the quality of both is pretty poor these days.
Itâs always been OzTAM Five Cities, survey, share%, cons28 if available, 6pm-midnight, excl Easter, of which Nine comfortably still trail (but has gradually narrowed and may continue to). Not sure when âweeks wonâ became a thing for crowning the yearly winner, AFAIK only used for news bulletins and breakfast shows.
The yearâs win has most commonly been the average share across the survey after 7-day consolidated have been added. Weeks won is not used much (except by the winner ) but is is a useful tool.
Currently, Seven is just 0.9% ahead of Nine in the average share but that is probably too much of a margin with just 2 weeks to go,
News has also usually been done by the average audience. Until a few years ago Seven started announcing wins based on weeks won. The problem with averages you have to wait until the end or close to the end of the survey for the announcement. But if you have notched up 22 weeks won you can make the announcement then and use it in promotions. Of course Seven was more likely to have markets with 21 wins. It really should still be done on who has the highest average audience. Most markets and most years it makes no difference as they coincide.

Please note: The report includes BVOD live minutes only and is not restricted to the five metropolitan cities. When broadcasters upgrade their video players, player measurement SDKs may take time to reach consumer devices (consumers need to update their apps) and may temporarily result in under-reporting a broadcasterâs video player figures.
