Seven had another big week with wins in all key demos plus all markets except Brisbane that went to Nine.
Seven’s share was on par with recent weeks and almost 6 points ahead of Nine.
While Nine’s share was lower, ABC and 10 were both up by one point with SBS unchanged.
Seven shows took out eight of the top 10 spots with Nine and Seven dominating the top 20.
Top ABC entry was ABC News 24th while 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention? was 28th. Thank God You’re Here was 10’s best demo performer.
The Block’s four episodes again topped the VPM table while The Voice did well and RFDS was the top drama performer.
Seven now has 18 weeks won so Nine will be hoping to claw back the lead in the coming weeks as The Block draws to a close plus some prime time cricket.
Nice to see part 2 of Silverchair episode of Australian Story making the top 10 of the VPM ratings list. While part 1 remains unavailable due to a dispute over music rights, it seems the parties had sorted out the issues for part 2.
The ABC’s decision to make all episodes of The Newsreader available on iView saw episode 3, 4 and 5 in the week’s top five VPM shows for the broadcaster.
Seven have now got themselves a very significant (in YTD) more than 2% lead (as well as over 1% main channel), which will not be easy to claw-back as we know, largely thanks to FIFA Women’s World Cup as well as AFL and some key programming like news, multis, DWTS and Voice.
However, if SAS does not rate well enough and with BB not expected to do anything amazing you’d think, margins could get big for Nine especially on prime time cricket nights and with 9Gem, so come survey end in December we could have a very tight finish!
As @Sully said, 7 has a good lead but I also expect it to get close and I think 9 has a more chance of winning the year (weeks & share) than 7. MKR ends this week & The Voice ends Sunday. After that I don’t think 7 has anything that can compete with the Block & 2-3 CWC match a week which 9 has until early to mid November.
If it was just the Block then 7 could hold on but with the CWC, I think 9 is in a better position
Do Seven have any prime time sport raters the next couple of months or so, like any CA telecasts at all, even womens, int’l or BBL? Are there any TV show specials or a rater we’re forgetting outside of SAS and BB? Because yeah while Seven will be competitive if not very most nights (thanks to news, H&A and multis), it is really Nine’s run home.
Fridays and Saturdays, now that AFL is over, will hurt Seven the most (especially if Nine have cricket on those nights), more so Saturdays given no BH&G and lower rating news with 7pm entertainment starts, could see quite a few punishing Saturdays coming up which could drive those share margins back inch by inch for Nine.

Please note: The report includes BVOD live minutes only and is not restricted to the five metropolitan cities. When broadcasters upgrade their video players, player measurement SDKs may take time to reach consumer devices (consumers need to update their apps) and may temporarily result in under-reporting a broadcaster’s video player figures.
Top Programs are for episodes with a minimum length of 10 minutes. Refer to the VPM Guidelines at the OzTAM website.
BVOD Audience: Total minutes played (including co-viewing) divided by content length and rounded to the nearest '000. Minutes: Total number of minutes played across measured devices by primary and co-viewers and rounded to the nearest '000. BVOD Reach: The unique count of people who have watched at least 15 seconds of the program.
Start: Start time of the program.
Big Live BVOD numbers for AFL. Seven News’s Saturday bulletin also with a +100k additional viewers, probably a high for the bulletin. Foxtel incl Kayo with 281k for F1 coverage.
