Nine won its first week of the year by a dominant nine-point margin that saw all other networks lose share from the previous week. The Australian Open helped Nine win every day of the week plus all key demos. Nine’s share of 36.5% compared to 32.6% for week 3 of 2023.

Seven stayed competitive and won Adelaide and Perth markets. ABC scored its lowest share of the summer and the lowest since week 36 last year. 10’s Gladiators, despite a good start ended up costing 10 significant market share. SBS also posted a summer low share.

Four of the night session of the tennis made the top 10 with ABC’s Muster Dogs the only top 20 entry that wasn’t sport or news. Outside the top 20 include Home and away 24th and Gladiators’ launch episode 29th.

The launch of Love Island All Stars was not able to make an impression in the BVOD rankings with Muster Dogs viewers taking the opportunity to binge the whole season on iView.

IIRC, 2020 (Nine) and 2018 (Seven) won every night of the Aus Open, this year now half way to achieving that again. Can’t recall 2022, 2019 or 2017 but think they came close. Any other years?

And Nine now winning the summer non-survey period, both network and main channel, despite only thanks to one week of the AO (and to a far lesser extent a few lead-up tournament weeks and December filler/alternate programming) vs Seven’s cricket nearly every day with BBL and Tests. Plus another week of the Oz Open to go (including a 50% share one night and finals) and I think one more week which will include first run Q1 shows such as Married. Ouch!
