Nine won the national TV ratings for the second consecutive week and the 5-city metro shares for the fourth consecutive week.
Nine had a two point lead in the national Total TV market with total people and a 10 point lead in 25-54 with 9Now a big help with a 47% national share.
Nine won the three east coast metro markets with Seven ahead in Adelaide, Perth and regionally.
Married at First Sight continued its dominance in all rankings. Idol’s Sunday episode did well to make the top 10 for Seven while Survivor was a clear number two in the demos.
Four Corners was the top ranked post 8pm offering followed by 60 Minutes, Media Watch then The Hundred. Death in Paradise was the top drama of the week with Home and Away average impacted by being shown on 7Two on Thursday night in some markets.
The top rated sports program of the week was the NRL Vegas Opener on Nine with an average just under 800k.
There was daylight between Married at First Sights’ 9Now numbers and second placed Survivor in both live BVOD and catch up viewing.
I find the reach number is only good for the morning shows, sport events and movies. Anything with a long running time gives a good indication of how many people are sampling these programmes.
Am warming up towards the reach numbers - but mainly for sporting events, and brekky tv. For “normal television” though, am not a fan.
Reach will also be good when a major breaking news happens.
We still see the Top 30 Averages list, thank goodness. There have been improvements with coding many shows into 1 for these lists (6pm news, 5pm game shows, The Project, Afternoon News etc).
But Married at First Sight now takes the top 5 spots. For me, it should only have two spots there. Married at First Sight- Sunday, and Married at First Sight- Weekdays. Due to the Sun show starting at 7pm, and the Mon to Wed airings stsrting at 7.30pm
