A very narrow win to Nine in network shares with Seven’s main channel a winner as the revival of the My Kitchen Rules season drew to a close.
The Grand Final managed 643,000 for the Winners’ Announcement while the rest of the program had a season-high 528,000 after premiering to 502,000 4 weeks ago. The season of just 16 episodes averaged 474,000 in linear viewing. It picked up an average of 11% in 7-day consolidated and did well in BVOD viewing.
The season compares to the 2019 season where the Grand Final had 941,000 and 875,000 averaging 794,000 across its 50-episode run. Then in 2020 the show slipped back to 29 episodes to average 470,000 in linear viewing with a 13% lift in 7day viewing. That year’s final averaged 463,000 (after being interrupted for COVID update).
Lead out in some state The Front Bar made the top 20 while Martin Clunes: Islands of the Pacific slipped 35,000 with a later start in some states.
On Nine, The Block was unaffected by the competition, lifting by 79k from the previous Wednesday that was a season low. After The Verdict that followed missed the top 20 for the first time, down 25,000 to a season low.
ABC’s share was up with Mad As Hell and Hard Quiz both managing a small lift while the debut of Summer Love just made the top 20 – better than many shows in that 9pm timeslot.
For 10, The Amazing Race continued to disappoint though it was up 26,000 from Tuesday’s low. That saw the network share down 1.5 week-on-week.
The second episode of the new Gogglebox season slipped below 100k and was down 47,000 from the season debut.
Afternoon numbers were down on usual. The Chase was notable for recording its lowest Wednesday rating since February while for Hot Seat it was it lowest Wednesday audience of the year. Meanwhile 10 News First was also at a Wednesday low.
