The Amazing Race Australia

It was Jake and Holly which forfeited the dance challenge and copped the 30 minute penalty. They struggled in the challenge for more than two hours. When they arrived first at the pitstop they had to serve the penalty. Somehow, the other 17 teams arrived within the 30 minute timeframe, so Jake and Holly were eliminated.

Thanks for the explanation. I always thought the penalty had to be served on the spot, rather than at the pitstop. There have been times when Phil has had to go and meet teams who were waiting the four hours so he could eliminate them and move to the next location. Surely Jake and Holly should’ve been aware that they still had to wait 30 minutes?

Model Couple Miss Out On Top Spot.

Jake And Holly From New South Wales. Eliminated From The Amazing Race Australia.

In a world first for Racers across the globe, 18 teams descended on Morocco’s Chefchaouen and realised they weren’t the only teams in the race.

Heading to the town square, teams got dizzy spinning a tassel attached to a Fez. Proving it’s anyone’s game, The Dragon Boat mums Jodie and Claire took out the win and ended the day on a high.

Waking up and heading to Aladdin’s Cave of Soap, teams began to realise the way forward was to work together to build a specific soap stack. With Melbourne teams sticking together they were ahead of the pack and onto painting the steps of Chefchaouen blue.

With the final hurdle matching similar doors to their photos, it was Jake and Holly who finished in first place but incurred a half hour penalty for quitting the Fez challenge. With all other teams arriving in quick succession, it was Jake and Holly who were eliminated from The Race.

On Sunday night the teams head to the ancient city of Athens in Greece, birth place of the Olympics.

Isn’t Olympia the birthplace of the Olympics? I guess Athens could be considered the birthplace of the modern Olympics, as the first city to host in the modern era.

The good news is the show is back to one hour length next Monday and Tuesday, but I fear the damage has already been done.

This series is DOA. And the incessant advertising they are now pushing to get extra eyeballs will most likely have the opposite effect.
Looks like this may be the last series.
Ten are in a spot of bother with this. Brain has tanked, Love boat looks even worse and then the struggling bachelor franchise next. They need something shiny and new, pronto.
Or twist the arm of working dog to get thank god your here back on air or even repurpose Shaun back into talking about your generation?!?
I wonder what traitors will be like?!? Maybe it can cut through just like hunted did?!?

Welcome To Greek Week!

I agree the eps are way too long, especially when the challenges aren’t all that interesting. Too much time was dedicated to the soap challenge, and the step painting, while significant to the area, was a mish-mash to watch with too many people there at the one time. I don’t understand why Jake and Holly didn’t get the 30 minute penalty when they quit the challenge rather than at the pitstop. In the US version the only penalties served at the pitstop were if the team had made an error, such as missing a clue or taking a taxi when they were meant to walk etc. From memory, these errors incurred a 30 min penalty.

Aside of making the first three episodes too long, it seems the producers have forgotten about new viewers, because I doubt people unfamiliar with the format would be all that impressed with what they’ve seen so far.

These challenges are dumb

With so many teams., this leaderboard came in handy tonight.

So we had the first team drop out because of Covid. They said that they will rejoin the race after a few days. I assume that means they’ll be out for the three episodes in Greece.

I wonder how they might deal with drop outs if it happens closer to the final eps.

Flamboyant Friends Fail To Step Up.

Sam And Alex from South Australia. Eliminated From The Amazing Race Australia.

Travelling to a very frozen Athens in Greece, teams were shocked not only by the weather but by how quickly some succeeded in shooting bow and arrows at a target to get to the next challenge.

Learning an ancient fable while in transit to their next destination, it was Teams who put the rhyme to a beat who had the most success at reciting in unison and moving on.

At the Detour, some teams chose to Step Up and learn a Greek marching routine or Step Down to make Greek sandals and compete in a three legged race.

With it definitely not being sandal weather in Greece, it was Step Up that saw teams head to the front of the pack.

The final challenge was feeding each other Spanakopita, which honestly sounded delicious. In the end it was Angel and Frankie who hit the mat in first place, with Sam and Alex landing in final place and eliminated from The Race.

Continues Tomorrow At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

The credits list is now available on 10play. The actual crew was quite huge with around 200 people.

Eating spanakopita sounds like my kind of challenge!

For the Santorini leg of the race, each team was given €35, but one team used it to fill up the tank in its car and now had no money to buy cable car tickets for themselves and the camera crew. Hadn’t each team had some money left from previous legs?

Surely they should pay their own way?

Would they be allowed to use it though?

Of course, it always happens in the US version. If the teams saved their money wisely they would have been able to cover for any unexpected expenses.

I am not sure though if the teams had to pay for their own meals and accommodation during this season.

Ladies In Red Luck Out On Non-Elimination Leg.

Tiffany And Cynthia Race Another Day On The Amazing Race Australia.

Tired and weary Racers made their way to picturesque Santorini for the fifth leg of The Amazing Race Australia.

Tensions rose between teams with Crystal and Reem refusing to help Angel and Frankie with the weight of some seafood at the very first Detour.

But friction amongst teams didn’t stop there when teammates Chelsea and Jamus decided to spend their Leg Money on fuel, not realising that money was actually for the cable car to get them to their next challenge.

With other teams helping Chelsea and Jamus through by spotting them the cash, the cable car took Teams to the base of a cliff only to then navigate a donkey and luggage back up the 500 plus stairs to get their next clue.

At the Road Block, Parkour was the name of the game and Flick and Gabby shot off in first place, only to get lost leading to Heath and Toni to land on the mat with Beau as the winners of this Leg.

With terrible navigation skills being their downfall, Tiffany and Cynthia brought up the rear but lucky for them, it was a non-elimination round and they lived to race another day.

Tomorrow night, Greek Week continues with teams heading to Arachova and an unprecedented blizzard.
