Last night’s Matlidas V Uzbekistan football match that saw the Matildas qualify for the Paris Olympics disrupted viewing habits across all networks.

Despite, the blow out result that seemed evident early on, the contest drew an average of 973,000 across its broadcast with half a million tuning in before and after the game.

The result helped 10 to the network’s best share of the year with 20% of the audience. Nine, that won the night, slipped by one while Seven dropped by five to its lowest share under the new data system; ABC was down by 1.5 and SBS slightly. Nine won four metro markets with Seven winning Perth. 10 did best in Sydney where it ranked second.

The result wasn’t enough to topple Married at First Sight from the number one position, though the audience was down slightly by 40k on the previous week’s dinner party episode. The 1% Club on Seven dropped by 50k on the season opener while Hard Quiz on ABC dropped by 50k as well.

Later, Under Investigation was way up by almost 170k. Mrs Brown’s Boys on Seven wasn’t competitive with under 400k for its 2 episodes.

Meanwhile, The Weekly was down by 160k on ABC while earlier the 5pm game shows were within 10k of each other.

The Matildas match attracted bigger reach and national average than game one on Saturday night. 10 and Football Australia will be pleased.

Nine won the metro 820k to 797k. Will post numbers later when I get a chance.

If 9 won metro i wonder they didn’t put that in their release given it’s rare for 9 to win the news in metro

when they mentioned TP winning metro

Not a good day for Seven yesterday

Nine News has a rare metro win with its biggest Wednesday audience of the year. That included the Sydney bulletin’s highest rating of 2024 while the Melbourne bulletin has been building this week. Nine’s Perth dilema continues with TP outperforming 9News Afternoon.

9News won five-city metro mainly due to Perth. Seven News lost 33,000 from Tuesday, while 9News was up 12,000. The Matildas match was being shown on 10Bold against the game shows and bulletins on Seven and Nine at the same time.

Well done to 10 and the Matildas match ratings.

Glad that we are able to see some WIN content in this new ratings system we have here. 53rd place is quite impressive for a mainly “regional market”.

If only ten knew how to capitalize on big events. Surely the project could have broadcast live from the stadium and they could have followed with a project special or launch their late news straight after……
they don’t get many opportunities like that for eyeballs

Tipping Point at 4.30 must be pulling great numbers to put WIN News in that position.

I’d be extremely worried if I were Seven. Seems like we’re starting to really see some movement. Looks like 9News Perth is up significantly too.

Good ratings for the Matildas on 10 and in primetime.

No wonder they are wanting to renew Socceroos/Matildas with good ratings. No matter what critics on Facebook or X says, going with the incumbents is safe.
