Last night’s Married At First Sight dinner party drew this season’s best Wednesday result for the show and Nine’s best Wednesday share for the year. Seven tweaked its Wednesday schedule replacing Code 1 with Mrs Browns Boys and saw the main channel improve its share by 1.4 with the British comedy managing 261,000, 60k more than Code 1. 10 adjusted its post 8.30 schedule with Fire Country bumped in favour of Law & Order: SUV to little effect with the network share the lowest midweek result for the year. Meanwhile ABC’s network share was down one.

MAFS’s audience of 925,000 is the highest for any program on a Wednesday this year and follows last week’s Wednesday episode lifting to 1.9 million in Total TV numbers. However, lead out program Under Investigation could only manage 367,000 in preliminary numbers, on par with its results this year.

Seven News was 100k clear of Nine at 6pm while Home and Away was up on recent Wednesday results. Front Bar again missed the top 20.

The Weekly with Charlie Pickering was the top post 8.30 show with a season high 443,000. That followed Hard Quiz that edged down to a 2023 low for new season episodes.

Over on 10, The Dog House was down 10k from last week.

In the afternoon, Hot Seat posted its highest 5pm and 5.30pm numbers of the year while in the multis 10 Peach was notable for filling the top 5 places in all key demos.

The new season of Gogglebox had 124,000 on Lifestyle. That compares to 132,000 last year and 183,000 in 2021.

Another day, another ratings result totally dominated by MAFS.

Gotta milk this one for as long as you can Nine.

Meanwhile, Channel Ten sits on a meagre 8.6%.

MAFS has been UP in overnights for every episode this week year-on-year. Incredible.

The more ridiculous MAFS gets with its coupling, the more people watching. Probably the closest show we have now on commercial TV to scripted drama.

MAFS’ domination is gradually taking its toll on ABC’s Wednesday stalwarts Hard Quiz and The Weekly with Charlie Pickering.

Comment of the week
We’ve wanted scripted for ages. We have that now with MAFS. Its rstings are at the next level now.

No wonder Nine’s profit is down - having to pay all these actors four nights a week across 9 weeks.

Hahaha this is unbelievable. MAFS is unstoppable. Its absolute trashy TV but goddamn I’m hooked.

Surely the total TV numbers will hit 2m for last Sunday’s episode onward.

Nine had a rare win in all markets on Wednesday.

Outside the top 20 included one of The Latest’s worst results. Late night Bull episode notable for outrating its lead in on 10 as well as Seven’s line-up.

With The Front Bar being 40th in Sydney, i would assume that it will be bumped to a later slot, especially wje its AFL edition stsrts in a few weeks time.

Im a Sydneysider and enjoy the show. A shame the numbers havent grown here.

Still amazes me that Sunrise can still win overall even though MAFS is demolishing the competition night after night.

And there’s no shortage of those wannabe influencers wanting their 5 minutes of fame on shows like MAFS so it’ll keep the show going.

I find it amazing that Sunrise can still win after coming last in 2 of the east cost cities.

Unfortunately, the show just doesn’t have the lead in for new viewers to sample it.

In Sydney, Front Bar ranked below Bull!

Wow, what a tale of the vast differences between these 2 big cities. I’m a Sydney lad and try to enjoy The Front Bar but its all over the place imho. And of course The Project 7pm is another case in point e.g. last night … Melb 100k / Sydney 44k. I don’t even try to watch it … happily ignore like most of Syd. I am a big Bull fan and great to see it knock off some of the competition last night
