Wednesday saw the return of Travel Guides that helped Nine to its first Wednesday win in four weeks up two points. Seven’s new line-up took a hit, down four with ABC and SBS each up one while 10 was steady.

Travel Guides average of 582,000 rated better than all episodes of Lego Masters. It was on par with the first episode of recent seasons (last season was a split schedule with 561,000, 2021 was 585,000). I’m A Celebrity was down 35k from the previous week to its lowest Wednesday of the series while Seven’s offering of Britain’s Got Talent didn’t offer much competition, beaten by its lead out of Crime Investigation Australia.

Meanwhile Seven News had another good night while A Current Affair dominated at 7pm with Home and Away posting its lowest Wednesday audience of the year.

Earlier, The Chase topped 500k for the first time on a Wednesday this year while 10 News made a rare top 20 appearance.

Hard Quiz dropped to a season low while The Weekly on ABC was up on the last two weeks.

For SBS, Alone Australia was up 30k on the previous week to rank 21st overall just marginally behind Seven while Rouge Heroes dropped.

In 25-54 Travel Guides was 3rd, I’m A Celebrity 6th, Alone Australia 15th and Britain’s Got Talent 26th.

Gogglebox on Foxtel equalled its lowest audience for an episode.

The premiere of The 1% Club can’t come soon enough for Seven. Britain’s Got Talent is not suited to the 7.30pm timeslot.

Foxtel will be concerned with Gogglebox’s declining ratings in recent weeks. Could it be due to program choices, the absence of Emmie Silbery and Sara Marie, or other factors?

Also, the whole Silbury family was missing last night.

Definitely a lack of female opinions, I think. They have lost Sarah and Emmie this year and Di last year and this week the other two Silburys.

With Travel Guides doing so well and Lego Masters way down maybe it’s time to move Travel Guides to Sunday.

Biggest issue with that, is the show only runs 60 minutes compared to the reality shows that are 100 minutes. It fits better into a Wednesday with its shorter run time.

Worth checking out Wednesday’s top 20 where 10 News makes an appearance. 10 News Perth has one of its best results of the year, ahead of Nine Afternoon News.

I’m surprised that nine havent found a way to supersize travel guides. It really is a sleeper hit for them - anytime they roll it out it always wins its slot, and performs very well in repeat mode as well. Im glad they havent, but surely their execs must be looking at ways to strip the format and add in a dinner party or airport lounge catch up?!?!?!?

Was an excellent episode. Bruno was fun, and the autistic magician and crowd choir both had me teary.
BGT moves to 8.30 from tonight.

I was thinking the same. Shock horror, why does reality shows need to go so long?

Amazing race in the states is one hour, here in Australia 1.5hrs plus.

Lego Masters should be easy to do in an hour etc.

One reason why have started to record, removes the adverts and miss the fluff.

What’s turned me off is they’re reviewing shows (and spoiling them) before I’ve had a chance to see them myself. That’s why I’ve stopped watching.

That’s precisely why it does well. No farting around with run-times and hardly any change to the original formula that made it work so well when it first started.

Though I don’t like them using Travel Guides as repeats whenever they don’t have anything in the schedule. Sooner or later it will tarnish the brand and ruin the normal run of new episodes in the same way Ambulance and Dog House have ended up over on 10.
