It’s more useful on ads than on TV programs.
Sometimes I watch ads and forget what it was for!
The lines between a watermark and logo is becoming increasingly more blurred these days.
Watermarks were always meant to be opaque - nothing very opaque looking about the Cyclone Cyrell one above though.

Just noticed today that 9 Gold Coast has lost its location bug on the watermark. Checking back this happened last Wednesday.
Now the same as the rest of Queensland.

That “Gold Coast” text always looked out of place off to the side without the HD watermark above it. It looks better without it.

Another change I’ve seen is that I can’t remember the last time there was a nine.com.au watermark in Queensland though it is still used elsewhere.

Seems like it happened at the same time Imparja lost their clean feed. The rumour of NPC no longer being able to output customised Nine feeds checks out.
It will likely affect WIN and Imparja with their breakaway programming too - they probably won’t need to insert their own watermarks anymore.

ABC in Victoria have dropped their watermark for the election coverage - usually the lower part of the screen is covered with graphics.
