There was a maybe 10-year period where it popped up in all sorts of places, the more frequent was during disaster recovery.

I also remember it often came on during PRG errors, such as opposite program genre to the one airing, like an automation attached to the classification/closed caption/PRG bugs.
During the AFL, the opposite would also occur, whereby the 2007(?)-2011 non-opaque “ten” watermark (bottom right) would come on at the start of program due to the “WS” (widescreen) bug, before fading-out and the sport one appearing correctly in the top-right. Or when a show promo super would appear in-program (which started occuring in 2010 IIRC) such as Modern Family, Merlin, Hawke and Offspring.

On Hot Seat this afternoon, there was a question with a watermark related answer.
Q: What anniversary did the ABC celebrate in 2022?
Options
A: 30th, B: 50, C: 90th, D:100th
Eddie’s explanation for the answer (which was C), “you know how they have bug in the corner, it’s got the number 90 on it”…
The contestant got the correct answer, but it wasn’t a very confident guess.

Seven AFL coverage (Fox game) with the regular mate watermark yesterday. It only lasted until the first commercial.

Looks like the watermark has a slight placement error and shows a bit of a border around it.

I never knew there was a transparent sports coverup like this. I only ever saw ‘WIN’ above or below the 9, or the solid blue ‘WIN Sport’ one.

Now that’s a promo I would like to see on 9Rush.
10 has been using revolving watermarks during MasterChef in the past few weeks, to promote themes for the next five episodes. The watermarks are on display for about a minute before disappearing for the rest of the segment.
