Warnie

The buzz around is not good

It looks like rubbish from the promos. And you would think that the promos would show the good parts.

Haven’t seen any good reviews - here’s a ā€œwofulā€ and a 2-star.

I think there will be a big curiosity factor for episodes one. Whether they come back for ep 2? Also cricket fans will probably get something from it, though the way that vintage footage has been doctored to insert the actors is strange.

#Warnie is woeful#AndJustLikeThat2 is ridiculous#TheIdolHBO is the unsexiest show on TV
but the good news is that #Riptide and #QueenOfOz are worth watching ...https://t.co/gnduacniwD

Probably not.

The fact that this has been rushed to commission after Warne’s death won’t go well with many either. It reeks of insensitivity and lack of compassion for the family.

Warnie seems rushed, just like Nine’s other recent 2-part-miniseries, Underbelly: Vanishing Act (on Melissa Caddick).

Despite some good actors on Vanishing Act, that was also rushed to air, with floppy scripts. And in the end was a big let down. Despite good ratings. Perhaps for the curiosity factor?

Warnie’s promos look just as bad. Nine should have taken their time with this, and aired it at least towards the end of the year, to fill in some voids when there’s no sports around…

I’ve been umming and aahing about whether to watch this.

The fact that it’s on over 2 nights is a bit of a turn off for me - feels a bit unnecessarily drawn out… The above reviews don’t help.

I probably won’t now, there’ll always be the opportunity to watch on 9Now or the inevitable repeat if I change my mind - by then they might have edited it down to one night.

And Nine probably would’ve preferred this to go up against something like MDI or Blow Up, rather than good rating DWTS and MasterChef let alone ABC…

Allegedly this isn’t true - it had been substantially written and been in the works for a little while prior to his death. (Thats not to say its not going to be hot garbage)

So whatever had been being made (probably with a 5 year timeline) has been rushed to completion? Ashes means cricket viewers are watching 9 and being not too soon after his passing means it’s still in the rest of the public’s conscience.

A few minutes in and already comments on social media overwhelmingly negative, couldn’t actually find a single positive one, some already saying they’ve turned off/switched over…

RE: Killy’s link of TV commentator Steve Molk from TVB’ Fetch ratings screenshot

Even though not accurate and to be taken with a grain of salt, as well as being national, that would have to be a bad sign and gut punch for Nine execs, let alone showing DWTS ahead and not wafer thin either…

Inb4 someone says it’s all the oldies and fossils propping DWTS up.

It also goes big regionally.

Warnie might however benefit from BVOD (tonight’s live stream and vod before 2am and vod over next 7 days - more likely if younger) but if older then consolidated broadcast (from recordings).

If DWTS and Warnie are fairly neck-and-neck (which at least tonight I’d expected for metro, despite the negative publicity) then it might be in trouble with Total TV, where as suggested, DWTS should have it covered in regional and we’ll have to wait and see on bvod and consolidated. Also remembering unlike Seven (maybe apart from N NSW although Tokyo 2020 did go huge there) Nine have historically poor performing markets in general (Adelaide, Perth, QLD, VIC, TAS, Reg WA and arguably S NSW).

The inaccuracies within this show are horrid.
What on earth were they thinking?!

It just misses the mark…

Part from Shane’s hair, it doesn’t even feel like it’s set in the 90s or 80s.

I’m actually enjoying it, however as others have mentioned, it all feels very rushed.
Why bother trying to make it feel like the 80’s and 90’s, if you can’t be bothered framing or keying out modern day houses in the background? Surely this kind of stuff should have been picked up on when filming locations were scouted.

That’s one criticism. The Production could have done better at placing the series into a more retro setting.

Think of The Newsreader that did a superb job at this.
