Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST)

No, I think you’ll find watvvideos is saying the opposite of that.

If you have ABC & SBS only: no regional news channels.

If you have the commercial channels (eg. with a traveller subscription): you get the news channels.

Just also asking would the traveller subscription stuff allow you to record VAST channels like VAST Regional News with the appropriate equipment? And would they be able to be played back on a PC and embedded into video editing software? Or is it just for viewing only?

Yes, as long as the service is decrypted and working it can be recorded like any other service.

The recordings made by a VAST certified set-top box are stored as encrypted files on the installed hard drive. I don’t believe anyone has found a way to decrypt them or even tap into the file structure.

Using a HDMI capture device or a PCIe tuner/VAST CAM combo are the only options.

I second this, I live couple hundred meters away from my local UHF TV TX site so well within great TV coverage for both Brisbane and Darling Downs TV so means I can’t get VAST, however i just use a traveler registration.
I use mine mainly for monitoring the VAST Radio services and Western QLD SCA/SWM TV services which are used in my job, so handy to be able to get a check to confirm they are working off D3/10

I should talk to someone at RBAH and see if i can get it registered for work purposes

Well, I did a google research, and it didn’t mention anything about there’s no regional news channels. It just said only Imparja, CDT10 and SCTV.

Unless you live in Regional WA, chances are you’ll get access to VAST Regional News.

Now known as Seven. No longer owned by SCA.

Well, I live in Regional and Mountainous VIC. So I’ll have access to Regional News.

Is there a list of the open audio channels?

The vast majority are ABC/SBS

When did @WAtvVideos’ VAST dish break? Was it late last year?

Probably. Not sure why it matters in this case as XMLEPG is up to date with VAST lists.

I use Digital Bitrate for the latest scans: https://www.digitalbitrate.com/dtv.php?lang=en&liste=2&live=87

It’s just these 3 channels that are open (not requiring VAST)

Not sure if they show up on VAST certified boxes though. I have a working dish but a dodgy box. I should have a new working VAST box in the next day or so.

I’m not harassing. I’m encouraging.

The audiocast channels are all part of Aurora Digital, so require a VAST certified box to access them. Those open ones are unlikely to be part of audiocast.

Nah they are ABC Feeds for emergencies and Temp feeds

They don’t show up on a VAST Box as they are not part of the VAST platform

Today celebrates VAST’s 15th Birthday and the video of the info channel made by WAtvVideos/WAtvPresentation. An nice celebration for Australia’s beloved Satellite Platform.

Do you know where are eligible areas in The Border & North East in Victoria? (Example, Falls Creek, Omeo, Mount Hotham, Mitta Mitta etc.)
