US Television

Banijay Group, now known simply as Banijay, has unveiled a rebrand following its $2.2BN takeover of Endemol Shine Group last week. As Deadline reported last week, the Endemol Shine name is effectively no more.

Banijay also confirmed that the majority of its 120 companies in 22 territories will keep their branding. This means that Endemol Shine labels, such as Kudos, Tiger Aspect, and Initial, will maintain their names under their new parent company

Since the Endemol Shine name is Effectively no longer, I wonder what ESA will be known as in Australia? A rebrand to Banijay? Will they merge with Screentime to create a mega production company?

As I posted in the Australian TV industry thread last night, Endemol Shine Australia will retain its name. It will stay as a separate company from Screentime, for now. However, we may see Banijay’s new logo pop up in the credits in ESA’s upcoming shows, like the new season of Junior MasterChef Australia.

I think a local broadcaster should just pick up the US version. Cheap programming for them at the moment.

Of particular note is this point:

1. The 22-episode season is history.

On cable and streaming services, seasons of as few as six and no more than 13 episodes have long been standard, and even on networks, the definition of a “full season” order has been edging down toward 18 or 19. But there have been holdouts: During the 2018–19 season, for instance, the three shows in NBC’s Chicago franchise produced 22 hour-long episodes apiece, and CBS’s NCIS and its two spin-offs produced 24 hour-long episodes each. That’s almost certainly over. Longer production schedules for each episode will mean that money needs to be saved somewhere. Reducing the episode count is an easy, probably necessary, solution.

This will only work if the entire series is in Simlish.

What’s next? An Excel-based game show? Blue Screen of Death thriller?

If this was in australia, what channel do you think this would be on?

Hopefully none of them.

Ok just asking a question.
Would look weird anyway on aussie tv. This aint japan

Probably SBS VICELAND. Couldn’t imagine one of the big three being interested.

I never imagined The Sims could become a TV show.
As the article says, it will be available on YouTube after the US broadcast. It will be interesting to see if it is geoblocked to overseas viewers.

A multi-platform agreement with UEFA was announced on Thursday that will see CBS All Access and CBS Sports as the exclusive English-language home in the United States of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League through 2024.

Every match will be available to stream live via CBS All Access each season, while select marquee matches will air on CBS Television Network and CBS Sports Network in what will prove to be the most UEFA matches ever on U.S. broadcast television to date.

Entertainment Tonight had a story today about new reality show Cannonball. Did they not do a version when Australia had it in 2017? Or when Britain and the Netherlands did it earlier?

From what I can see online, it would appear that this USA Network commissioned series is the first one to air in the US.

I’d say Entertainment Tonight had a story about it because the series features one of their former correspondents, Rocsi Diaz as a co-host.
