US Television

It’s a remake of the 1970s series of the same name.

Incredible story. Expect to see Sanrise and The Todey Show popping up in the near future if our networks get wind of it.

The Australian networks are light years ahead of the US networks when it comes to dodgy ratings coding - each breakfast show is already split into three segments :flushed: in the ratings with both shows running 10 minutes or more into the morning programs to bolster their numbers.

Nominations for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards were announced overnight. Aussie actors Nicole Kidman, Judy Davis, Ben Mendolsohn and Geoffrey Rush have all scored Emmy nominations. HBO’s Westworld and NBC’s Saturday Night Live has the most nominations at 22 each.

I was reading a few articles on ‘cord cutters’ in the US, and there seems to be a huge number of people over there who are completely unaware that they can receive free TV over the air by installing an antenna on their house, which goes to show the proliferation of cable and satellite TV in the USA.

For example, you see videos on Youtube with people saying “Get FREE HDTV with an antenna,” as if that concept is completely alien to the viewing audience.

One survey put the rate of households without pay TV (watching over the air) as 15%, with the other 85% having access to at least one pay TV service. That’s less households watching for free over the air in the USA as there are households with Foxtel subscriptions here in Australia.

The Dark Tower movie, based on Stephen King’s novels and released in Australia on August 17, will have a TV prequel for 2018. The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara will run the series, which will tell the origins of Roland the Gunslinger, played by Idris Elba in the movie, based on flashbacks from King’s novels Wizard and Glass and The Gunslinger.

Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders seems quite good, Has Channel Nine bought the Australian Rights to it seeming they have the Universal TV and Film Rights Now?

NBC is working on a reboot of The Munsters, with Seth Meyers one of the executive producers.

Netflix has renewed Friends from College for a second season. Since its release it was panned by critics but viewers quite liked the show.
