It’s interesting you say that because my immediate first thought was of Zelenskyy. A comedian who wrote and starred in a sitcom about an ordinary guy running for and winning office… then he went and did just that in real life. And he’s been truly formidable in sticking up for his country as it’s been invaded by Russia.
President-elect Donald Trump will enter the White House this month as a felon, but will serve no jail time under a sentence handed down this morning in New York for his criminal conviction in a hush-money trial that angered him and his supporters but didn’t prevent him from reclaiming the presidency.
With an unconditional discharge, Trump also will have no incarceration, fine or probation, but his felony conviction still stands. Under New York law, such sentences are given when the judge determines that no purpose is served in imposing a punishment.
Genuine question, but do they think that the anti-LGBTQ rhetoric expressed by most hard line conservatives including Trump won’t be expanded to include them because they’re “good hard-working Americans”?
Once the current anti-trans movement achieves its goals, have they considered where all of that that hatred will be pointed next?
I’m over it now. So don’t want to get into it too much. It’s just The way you spoke to me was patronising. You saying I’m going as low as trump, when I’m nearly pointing out my personal perspective, you saying I will say I get it but I won’t etc is a patronising way of speaking to a person. I’m allowed to have an opinion and I always respect yours. I think you need to do the same.
As I said I want to leave it here. Clearly expressing how I feel to you doesn’t work which just proves my point. Have a good day. I have admitted and apologised when I feel I have been in the wrong. Stubbornness is a great trait to have when you realise you possess it. Self awareness is also important.
I have apologised to you many times in this thread and forum. I wasn’t being judgmental towards your ‘friends’ I was expressing an opinion of being sad people think of the economy before rights. I will never apologise for saying that. That’s the way I vote and you should respect it just like I respect the way you vote. And this is where you are becoming patronising again.
But that’s the way it was received. It had that hallmark all over it. You’re absolutely free to disagree - but as the comment was spoken to me - how it’s received by the recipient is relevant.
You are upset you precieved I was judging your friends. I don’t need to apologise to you for that. Even if it’s true I am not judging you… unless your friends are really you?
When you said you felt I was patronising to you I said to you: “Being patronising, high and mighty is defi something I don’t want to be. Apologies if I came across that way” I apologised to you because you pointed out some unattractive behaviour.
When I said I felt you were patronising to me, you said
I find many of your comments to me pretty patronising.
Most times I see the alert symbol that someone has responded to my post - it’s you. With something to say that often comes off patronising. It’s not a huge deal. Whatever. I don’t need or expect an apology, but it’s ironic when you come finger pointing at me for being patronising - when it’s quite often your tone
Without going back and reviewing every single post - I would say most times I sense you are being patronising .so I’m not referring to one specific word you said - just a general continuous attitude to me me. And again you don’t need to apologise. It’s just funny you can notice a quality in others but not yourself. And then you say it’s important to be self aware. The irony is massive.
But, to give you an example. When I post a long lengthy well thought out post why some close friends of mine voted trump, because you know we are all debating how this whacko won the election - I get a "well you know shame your friends were worried aboit eating dogs and a few bucks, I like to vote on my rights and freedoms " sentiment from you
Sorry - to me - that’s about as patronising as it comes
