Agree. It’s this type of hypocrisy that really bugs me. People like Trump and his cult followers demand compassion and a level of integrity they refuse to reciprocate. It’s such blatant hypocrisy.

Trump has also continued to mock Paul Pelosi, who was attacked by a far right supporter of his. It felt wrong when Nancy put out a statement during the week commenting that they hope Trump is ok. Nobody from Trump’s side gave two shits about them when they got ambushed, and he used the occasion to egg on his crowd at a rally.

Can someone fast forward us to 2028? The November to January period is going to be ugly also. I’m thinking of actually zoning out from all news from this November.

I think we are not quite finished on the violence front either. I really don’t know what is coming but it’s not going to be a smooth ride in the near future.

Of course I wish him a good recovery, but I also hope this is the start of his withdrawal narrative…

Yep he needs to just go. It’s not about winning anymore. It’s about sandbagging as many states as possible.

Ironic, as this news broke at the same time as him saying he might reconsider his place if a medical condition emerges:

Also: 70% of interviewees across the political specturm think he should step down, according to an AP-NORC survey.

God the Trump presidency is going to be more annoying than watching chickens come home to roost.

Still think Biden is going to dig his heels in and refuse to step down.

Democrats are truly fucked. Apart from the issue with Biden being unwell in the head , they have nothing to stand on that they want to sell to the Americans to vote for. Yes Biden has done some good things but they need to get their ass out of their high moral ground and start shifting gears to at least have a fighting chance.

It’s a good point. What does Biden even stand for? He isn’t going to last 4 years, so what does Harris stand for?

It really feels like a Democrats vote is a vote for the unknown. You definitely don’t know what you are getting.

I also feel like the country is currently on ‘pause’ due to Biden’s decline.

I suspect it is. I was watching CNN earlier and they were discussing how Biden is apparently asking advisors and other DNC people whether they’d support Kamala Harris running in his stead. I think the Covid thing will give him a very good excuse to step down and save face at the same time.

I see Kamala has now moved ahead in the odds race to become the Dems nominee.

Kamala Harris $1.91
Joe Biden $2.50

I was listening to a commentator saying tonight would be perfect timing for him to make the announcement of stepping down, to take the attention from Trump’s Republican National convention speech. Fingers crossed. It’ll be a very different campaign if he’s up against Kamala.

I see the argument but I’m not sure that swing voters would find that overly endearing.

Maybe but they’d surely find it slightly more appealing than Biden staying in and definitely losing come November to the detriment of the rest of the world.

I’m still unconvinced Kamala Harris can be competitive. She’s brand Biden that people can’t shake off and being honest if she did that well during the last four years the odds would’ve favoured her to beat Biden at the conventions earlier this year.

Still think a brand new ticket (you know who I’m referring to) will at least close that gap and make the race close ala Bush Jr vs Al Gore in 2000.

It’s at best a sugar hit - might shift the polls in the short term but probably won’t have any real long-term benefits alone

Since the debacle of the debate, which convinced a large majority of Americans that Biden is unfit to be President, Trump has extended his lead in the polls. He is currently ahead in every swing state except Virginia. It is no good arguing that “the polls are wrong.” My friends on the left to hard left were quite happy to accept the polls in July 2020, when they correctly showed Trump headed for defeat.

Oh I’d still get rid of Biden - but wouldn’t do it the night of the RNC convention. Just don’t think the optics are that good of trying to “steal the show”.

Do it over the weekend.

I’m not sure Kamala is a great option but Biden now seems a lost cause both personally and politically.

Trump seems destined to win.

Currently, I think he’ll walk it in.
