Ultimate Escape is coming to Seven and 7plus in 2023

The epic adventure of a lifetime

Who would you trust to rescue you on the mission of a lifetime? Ultimate Escape is a thrilling new adventure competition series coming to Seven and 7plus later this year.

Ultimate Escape sees everyday Australian heroes race the clock and each other as they try to complete an epic journey.

Teams of two will attempt a high-stakes search and rescue operation in some of the toughest and most beautiful terrain on the planet. One team member will need strength and endurance, while the other will rely on their smarts to compete for a big cash prize.

Seven’s Chief Content Officer, Entertainment Programming, Angus Ross, said: “We’re excited to partner with HELIUM on this electrifying new format. Ultimate Escape is gripping TV, offering viewers fast-paced, jaw-dropping action supercharged by real emotion.”

HELIUM’s Chief Creative Officer, Mark Fennessy, said: “Ultimate Escape is immersive, edge-of-the-seat, big event TV. With a stunning backdrop and teams of unique Australians, this groundbreaking series is like a blockbuster movie come to life.”

Casting for the Ultimate Escape is now open. Teams of two, aged 18 years and over, can apply at www.ultimateescapecasting.com.au

Ultimate Escape is a HELIUM production for the Seven Network, based on a hit Finnish format created by Rabbit Films (Over The Atlantic).

The Australian version is quite different from the original Finnish format though.

A host has 24 hours in which they can make use of 24 clues and 24 phone calls to find and release a celebrity locked in a container at an unknown location. The celebrity has access to information, clues and tips that will help the host find them.

The descriptions make it sound like a cross between The Amazing Race and Hunted.

Reportedly due to SAS returning in Q4 2024, not sure why that matters but will likely be featured at next years upfronts.

It says it was due this year. I wonder what happened.

Seven probably got cold feet when they saw Rush flop over on Nine.

Q1? Interesting. Could the 2 year deal for Idol be true after all and that’s why it’s back next year despite not the best figures? Only saying cause it’s interesting they have this show in mind for Q1 2025?
