TV Week

I know this has been asked before - but does anyone think that TV Week will ever add “SBS World Movies” and “NITV” into the TV Guides section? Surely they can squiz it in somewhere,

I know there isn’t much space to fit everything in, but it can happen.

Example:
ABC Kids/Comedy and ABC ME can possibly merge into the one column and show prime-time shows perhaps? As shows that air between 6am and 2-3pm are rarely shows in the guides and is listed only as “Children’s Programs”.

I doubt it. Both channels are at the bottom of the ratings so I don’t think they’ll be making much room to accommodate them. Though I think they should, likewise Channel 31 (where it’s still available)

Not popular with an “regular” audience, but popular with an Aboriginal audience. But can it still be there?

It should be there and so should World Movies. Even if it means losing some Foxtel channels.

Just for equality’s sake?

It’s not an equality issue. It’s free to air. All free to air channels should be there.

Shows on the channel are sold overseas and get nominated for awards. We shouldn’t be ignoring it.

Along this line of discussion, I switched on the telly in London this morning and they have Aussie kids shows like Mustangs FC in a prime Saturday morning timelot on BBC 2. We have it on the lesser watched ABC ME, in the afternoon. The Brits treat our shows better than we do.

It’s a private magazine. If they think Foxtel listings are of more interest to their readership than NITV/SBS Movies then that’s their prerogative.

I agree that all Free-To-Air channels should be there listed in the guide - to some extent.

I understand that channels like NITV; SBS World Movies; ABC Me and 7 Food all have tiny ratings shares. Not everything can be winners. But a simple listing is needed for at least primetime shows - even if it is in small font like the pay-tv guide.

We have a listing for ABC News - where to put it simply - is just news on a regular basis, with little variation. between days.

They don’t sell enough magazines to care about the little things plus the demographic that buys it probably prefers Foxtel listing’s…

and Foxtel probably pays more in advertising so they wouldn’t want to upset that source of income

All Australian TV networks have treated their children’s programs like garbage since the commercial networks were allowed to move their output to multichannels and the ABC moved theirs to the dedicated children’s channels but hey, what’s new there?

Exactly. Same philosophy with the News Corp papers replacing listings for the ABC News Channel with those for the main Sky News channel.

IMO, probably the best solution for channels like ABC News, ABC KIDS/COMEDY, ABC ME, NITV, World Movies and the Food channels would be to just have primetime listings with a “for full details, consult your EPG or visit our website” disclaimer.

Couldn’t believe there is so much children’s programming on most channels on Saturday mornings in the UK. It was like Australia twenty years ago. They certainly don’t have as many breakfast news/current affairs shows as we do now. BBC One is the only one with Breakfast.

fta here in australia is crap anyways. its disgusting how fta treat children tv over here esp when they dont want to air any more and always complain coz they have to. fta here in australia has declined over the years and is still declining now . fta overseas is much better and superior then fta here . in years to come fta wont exist

Nice to see Sigrid Thornton on the front cover this week. Last time she was on the front cover must be like 20 years ago?

TV Week obviously wishes The Sound of Music had a different ending.

Probably not enough flamin’ galahs or love triangles. Imagine the covers of TV Week back in 1965 when the movie came out. Home and Away would still be on the cover despite being over 20 years away.

On the top of the latest TV Week cover - it says “New bumper puzzles special - win cash”. But it’s the same amount of money to be won than any other week. To entice more people to buy the mag…

And shock horror - Home and Away is on the cover :open_mouth:
