Happy to be corrected, but looks 2007-2009ish, judging by the cars in the background. I believe there is a VE Commodore as well as a 2007+ Corolla sedan up in the top right. Probably right before they ditched the Suburban’s too.
Very American inspired
A Nine News Melbourne Land Cruiser and a brief glimpse of a Seven News Melbourne Commodore wagon (complete with early 2000s logo!) in this footage from 2005, sourced from a Channel Nine video on YouTube.
Surprises me they are using Subaru. Each SCA station has a different brand of car. It’s all over the place.
I thought SCA would have a contract with a car manufacturer/leasing company supplying vehicles every 5 years or so - it would save them so much money. Kinda like Channel 9 and ABC with Toyota.
It’s a good point, but they probably don’t lease enough cars to warrant going down such a path, in my experience those kind of deals only really work on a large scale and can be quite restrictive with contract requirements etc.
Yes however SCA supplies vehicles for Nine News Regional and the whole radio network of course. Regional stations in NT and other areas as well.
I think SCA mass purchased unmarked Mazda BT-50s or something similar for regional news though?
The regional news vehicles are owned by 9
SCA9 drive Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
Ah yes. I do recall Cairns having the BT-50s however. Different vehicles in every market again
The “N E W S” probably lower than it should be.
All their cars are going in for new liveries for the rebrand I believe.
Interesting to hear. Think the livery in that pic posted above dates back to 2008 with that unused (at least during bulletins) Nine News logo - also seen it on jackets before, which makes me wonder if there were “flying billboard” Openers with that logo which never made it to air.
Doesn’t look to be any number plates on that van - front or rear.
In the last picture it appears to be being towed, and the pic just before that it looked abandoned somewhere!
