General TV History

Cornelia shone in all that she appeared. She is one of the greatest Australian soap villains ever and most successful quiz shows hosts. Very amazing talent.

I wonder how H&A will write her character out?

Her death must’ve been known (privately) to some people outside her family, because there was a social media from some “actor/producer” who posted her death a day ago. Oops

A great loss. Had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago - such a hoot. An iconic Australian actor who will always be remembered.

While ATV Melbourne, TEN Sydney, and SAS Adelaide were using ‘First in Color’, TVQ Brisbane went against the grain and used ‘Color Your World’ (the same as used by Seven).

Maybe this was used by TVQ.

Original BTV6 RCA TK60 Image Orthicon camera.
Andrew Sculley and the crew from WIN TV Ballarat did a great job at showcasing the stations history.

Brisbane also went against the rest of the country for a while with Seven’s Eyewitness News.

It looks like WIN have quite the archive there and are doing some decent work in preserving it.

I think it’s more good luck rather than good management.

NOTE: 1:12 - 1:39: Things like CKND, STV, U.TV, Canwest Global System, MITV are the Canadian regional stations that owned by the same owner with Ten. Those Canadian regional stations later resulted the launch of Canadian’s third national “TV system” in 1997, called Global. (Global later expanded coverage in 2000/2001 as the result of Canwest bought WIC).

GMV6 Shepparton had the same logo as BTV6 from 1975-77 but with “GMV” instead of “BTV” of course.
Before that they were known on air as and their logo was just “GMV”. This was around the same time translators were set up at Alexandra (GMV10) and Eildon (GMV3) and station management didn’t want to refer to the station as “Channel 6” anymore so as not to confuse those in Alexandra and Eildon, so they went with “GMV”. In 1975 they brought back the “Channel 6” branding. In 1976 when Deniliquin got a GMV translator on Channel 10 they had a special ident with the “GMV Channel 6” logo but with 10 instead of 6.

curious what “Dexter-like” proportions are?

So how many logos did BTV and GMV actually have?

I was curious about that, too.

There’s a breed of called Dexter that are known for their genetic defects and problems associated with breeding them. Kind of makes sense someone living in rural Victoria would use the term to describe a persistent problem?

…and as any BTV, GMV, SES, AMV, SES Pres. operators will tell you for World of Sport, 20 years later “precise cueing arrangements” still hadn’t been achieved. The best you could hope for was “relays, we’re in a break”

Hard to believe that it’s 25 years ago that Paradise Beach began.

It had such ambition and a stack of overseas money thrown at it but it was a bomb. How it lasted as long as it did (260 episodes) is probably due to overseas sales. Although the cast seemed solid enough. Some older actors like Robert Coleby, Deborah Coulls, Zoe Bertram, Andrew McKaige and later Paula Duncan and Michael Caton, and the usual fresh faces but it was another of Nine’s string of soapie duds in the 1980s and 90s.

The show might have flopped but it created some future international stars in Isla Fisher, Jon (Manu) Bennett and Ingo Rademacher
