I’ve been watching it because my Niece is obsessed - its very good
Does the theme from 60’s cop show Homicide count as iconic?
Blue Heelers?
A theme song with a country twang? How could it not be iconic?
funnily enough, our friend @TelevisionAU has had a go at this previously
I probably should revise that list
I think its a pretty sound list (pardon the pun) even if its skewed a bit to older shows
I’ve heard the theme song for Number 96 being used in an advert which plays at my gym. When I first heard it, I just thought “What the hell is happening?”
I’ve heard mention that but I’ve not seen the ad… I’d love to see it
Some others not mentioined so far from my childhood and youth, Countdown, The Sullivans, A Country Practice, Come and Get It, Prisoner, The Don Lane Show, Mother and Son, Kingswood Country, Burke’s Backyard, Police Rescue, Rush, Shirl’s Neighbourhood, C’mon Kids, The Curiosity Show, Hunter (an ABC educational show) and lastly Symphony for the Common Man by Emerson Lake and Palmer which preceded Seven Sports telecasts from about 1989 onwards.
to be honest there aren’t many more modern theme tunes that stand out for me. And also every other listicle out there tends to think nothing happened ever before 2010 so I wanted to counter that a bit
Also used by Chris Conroys World of Boats IIRC…
Was that produced at NRTV or up on the coast somewhere? Felt like a NRTV show.
Was as a Self Produced Independent Production based on the Gold Coast which NRTV aired (as well as others). Used QTQ9s Post Production resources in its early days.
Makes sense. Felt like a NRTV show, but they only aired it.
Yep a case of just dropping the tape off with a completed episode.
Apparently got out of the game after TV Stations/Networks started to charge for airtime around 2002. Those monsters!
Speaking of NRTV and catchy tunes
We’re are NRTV, We’re part of You"
and NRTV, We’re Part of YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!!!
NRTV emphasising the “You” part of their jingle.
Getting OT but I spoke recently to someone who worked at NRTV when the Local News was thriving.
He said he went to the former NRTV building recently and a bat had made a home was flying around the studios. Sad.
