but NBN was used for a lot of things, like re-transmission and other station programming, yes?

Did anywhere in Australia have TV Translators or Transmitters on VHF Channel 5 back in the day… anywhere?

Yes there were TV stations on Channel 5, including ABQN Central Western Slopes, ABHN Newcastle, and translators at DDQ Toowoomba, RTN Murwillumbah… ABHN and DDQ would both move to channel 5A.

question here… what call signs and naming would have been used during the peroid of Great Eastland Television or GET?

ABQN started on channel 5. It later was moved to 11 to make way for FM.

  1. i’m surprised that ABRV Ballarat didn’t have a studio for Western Victoria
  2. ABSW is the only station in Australia to use channel 5

@everyone
How many call signs used the VHF Channel 9A?

Prior to 2014, ABC-3 Canberra broadcasted digitally on VHF-9A.

DDQ/SDQ’s on-air branding at that time was GET 10-4-5A.

Apart from the Rockhampton and Townsville stations I don’t think there were any regional ABC sites with studios. Possible exception maybe being ABC in Canberra

NEN9/ECN8 changed their name to 9-8 Television in about 84 and I believe RTN8/NRN10 adopted NRTV during a similar period

I was asking when GET was around, did any of their stations carry a GET call sign and the then channel number like GET 10-4-5a? Did others do this as well?

NRN/RTN was known as Great Eastland Television 11-8. No change to the official call sign.
