Another night with Seven winning on network shares while Nine had the number one main channel. Overall, Multichannels did better than usual as viewers switched off Seven and Nine’s main channels at 7.30pm. That helped give 10 a boost to its second-highest Tuesday result of the year while SBS also improved while ABC was down two points. 10 won all key demos for the second consecutive night.

MasterChef was the top entertainment offering in primetime posting an easy win at 7.30. It was a race to the bottom for the competition. Rush lost another 30k of its audience to be slightly in front of Million Dollar Island that lost 30k from the previous week. It was a season low for both formats. Rush ranked 12th in 25-54 Million Dollar Island 13th.

Later, The Cheap Seats was up 15k to limited competition from the commercials.

Meanwhile ABC’s New Leash on Life premiered to just over 300k, down 50k on the previous week’s The ABC Of…

News numbers were on par with usual though Seven in Sydney scored a big win. That followed another win in the afternoon for The Chase though Hot Seat was more competitive with the 5pm segment posting its highest rating of the year.

Only its second win since it began broadcasting from Eveleigh last Monday week.

Seven News beating Nine in all markets.

A surprise win in Sydney - suddenly Seven way in front?

I dont believe it this is only due to the lead in because there is not a big difference between The Chase and Hot Seat in Sydney and Melbourne.

Not Brisbane, although close behind 9.

Pretty embarrassing that some cheap filler in the form of Botham vs Chappell (more like Boffin vs Boffin) was able to outrate an expensive production like Rush.

Nine will probably rush (pun intended) to replace the show if this continues, or maybe they don’t care as they’ve got Ashes and SOO coming up soon and they’re happy to lose a few days to crush the competition later on.

I’d rate Rush as Nine’s biggest misstep in reality TV programming in recent times. I can’t think of anything that comes close when you take into account the time of year, prominence in the schedule and competition that isn’t very high.

Family Food Fight season 2 in 2018 was the last big Nine flop I’m pretty sure.
Think they bumped from 3 nights to 2 and replaced it with a 7 year old Queen doco, which did significantly better.

Before that, The Last Resort in 2017, and then of course the several flops of 2016 (AGT, Reno Rumble, Briefcase).

During x2 SOO and x2 Ashes Tests too! Plus news, ACA, NRL!!

Don’t forget Excess Baggage. 2012?

Overall the biggest mistake was launch night. Regardless of what ratings it pulled, How could they not see that as an error when almost everyone here could?

I was going to ask the same question.

They will win the month on the back of the Ashes and SOO.

They’ll look at Rush and it will be shelved, but they got lucky with an Ashes series that is pulling big numbers.

Are they pulling bigger numbers this time round compared to 4 yes ago?

Surely seven would be considering dropping million dollar island so they never air the final and don’t have to fork out for the winning prize?

It doesnt work like that. They would have to pay eventually. Their time limit of not paying would run out depending on the contract. Its still a competition with a prize first and foremost.

For all the crap we give The Summit, at least there’s some unique features about it such as climbing a mountain and facing different terrains and challenges on the way, not to mention the stunning landscape (Even if the rest of the gameplay is a Survivor ripoff and they seem to be making up the rules as they go along). That show, based on performance and viewers’ critique, is worthy of redemption.

Rush on the other hand is just a derivative version of Amazing Race and Race Across the World and a flop all round.

And don’t forget the new season of The Block, which (combined with NRL finals) will virtually guarantee them every weekly win from August to early November.

We’ll see how that goes. Last year it did well because it ‘refreshed’ itself through the Tree Change. This year it looks like it’s the same old and don’t forget Seven’s reliance of AFL will help them claw back some ground.
