The absence of Survivor from 10’s Tuesday schedule saw a collapse in its audience from the previous week with most of the lost viewers going to Nine and SBS. That saw Nine up almost 3 points and 10 down to its lowest Tuesday share of the year. Seven was steady while ABC was also down.

With less competition Married At First Sight’s audience was its best for a Tuesday this season, up 20k from last week. The Hundred with Andy Lee that followed also improved to its best result since this season’s first episode and ranking in the top 10, a great result for a post reality show. Earlier, A Current Affair was number one at 7pm.

Seven News was again on top at 6pm with Nine News dropping to its lowest Tuesday since January. Home and Away then made the top 10 while We Interrupt This Broadcast improved slightly from the previous Tuesday to just on 300k.

The second episode of Back In Time For the Corner Store disappointed to drop 30k from its season premiere while over on 10 The Dog House landed fourth at 7.30. The audience of 288k was below its recent Wednesday ratings.

I think Back in Time for the Corner Shop will pick up viewers significantly over the next week. This is one of the shows like to sit down and watch in their own time.

We Interrupt This Broadcast also benefitted from the absence of Survivor.

Channel Ten 8.1% on a Tuesday night?

Oh dear, that smarts a little

It got just 13k more in total people but was beaten by The Dog House in the key 25-54 demo where its audience was unchanged.

From Nine:

  • The 9Network and Channel 9 dominate Tuesday viewing with all key demos and Total People
  • Channel 9 took out the top 5 live streamed programs yesterday against all broadcasters, with Married at First Sight leading the way at No.1
  • Married at First Sight was Australia’s No.1 program with all key demos
  • Married at First Sight took out to top 2 programs streamed on catch up yesterday against all broadcasters
  • Married at First Sight Episode 27 recorded a Live BVOD Audience of 145,000 (+26% YoY)
  • Married at First Sight Episode 27 recorded a Live + VOD BVOD Audience of 274,000 (+13% YoY)
  • The Hundred was a timeslot winner with all key demos and Total People across the 5 City Metro and in all metro capitals

From 10:

The Dog House Australia:

  • Biggest live stream audience of the season!
  • #2 in its timeslot in under 50s and 25 to 54s.
  • Series : Achieving its biggest BVOD audiences ever across the series (up 3% year-on-year).

Nine had a comprehensive win in all markets doing best in Brisbane were it was16 clear of Seven. Extremely high demo shares as well over 40%.

Bashing 10 day in, day out doesn’t provide any insight or value to the discussion.
What changes would you make to improve their ratings?

Great question. I would start wtih having a 30 minute news bulletin at 9pm or 9.30pm.

This is an advantage because you can update all stories from 6pm or cover any that are breaking.

A guaranteed audience on a big news day.

Is Sandra Sully available?

For any late news to be successful, it needs to be on the same exact time every night - not all over the place like Nine and Seven’s is now. I think 9 or 9.30 is too early for late news, 10.30 would be good - by then its long enough after earlier news, but it can’t just be the 6pm news rehashed - it would need to be a combination of quick recaps and new stories, and go for no more than half an hour total. That said though, I don’t think it would work for 10 in any case, as people don’t turn to 10 for news. Sandra Sully or not!

I would opt for 9pm.

The reason is because for example last night when a show like MAFS is over, the audience can decide to stick with the banal Andy Lee or to flick over to Ten to get the latest.

That’s a challenge in itself when 10’s realities don’t even finish on time at 9pm.

As we can see from the ratings, most of the MAFS audience is gone from FTA when it finishes.

Thats a very good point. Shows like Survivor and The Celebrity Jungle show would have to run from 7.30pm to 9pm, with the News coming on straight after

True, because there is nothing to keep them there

Yeah i can’t really see that. And do what with Gogglebox, cheap seats, Have you been paying attention?

2 options.

You could start all those shows at 9.30pm.

Or when there is one hour 7.30-8.30 programming, you just need a half hour show for 8.30-9pm.

The 9pm News would definitely be a winner for Ten.

So you think news would pull 500k? When the 6pm portion cant even get 150k.
You would essentially kill those shows by doing that.
Tbh it sounds like youre just taking the piss. I wouldnt be putting you in charge of any networks anytime soon.

I am suggesting that if Survivor is pulling 500K, and a news bulletin follows with major breaking news, you hold onto that audience.

And how many nights is there ‘major breaking news’
