That’s appalling. Sidey’s voice is synonymous with Triple M. I can’t imagine hearing his voice on any other station. Even if I hear him on TVC’s I still get reminded of Triple M.
How hard is it to keep him at SCA?
Changing their major station VO could spell a change in overall direction for the M’s.
Mind you, Perth keep his voice to a minimum given their different format.
If they don’t urgently refresh the eastern M’s, then this recent sacking has been a completely pointless exercise.
The eastern M’s brand is seriously stale - having the same playlist for 25yrs+.
They kinda had no choice. Marty leaving Melbourne breakfast suddenly in July last year set off a chain of events that lead to Molloy leaving Sydney breakfast this year for Melbourne. Plus it appears the SCA budget has dried up dramatically during this time too leading to MG being cut.
I reckon if the business case is good, and a long term deal can drive listeners and revenue. Why wouldn’t they…
The content could be used across the network too reducing the costs further, but I think the biggest thing might just be damaging your competition and your competitors position in the market.
The writing’s on the wall at ARN. Jonesy and Amanda were left out of the last round of contract renewals. Let’s not forget that when K&J got their monster deal, Christian got a similar deal (although no doubt for a comparatively lower, but still high price). J&A were nowhere to be seen at the time. Like 97.3 breakfast, they’re in their current position until the networking starts.
J&A also have a huge historical connection to Triple M. Listen to Jonesy talk on the Radio Game Changers podcast in December - it’s like he’s still part of Triple M. A move back to Triple M would be like them returning to their traditional home. Plus, at breakfast there’s a good chance they’d bring a chunk of the audience over with them.
100% spot on. ARN have killed and cooked their own goose. Woeful mismanagement and hopeless strategy for some years. J&A need to fly that stinking coop and SCA would love them at the MMMs. As ARN continues with wall to wall bad networking, the big opportunity is for SCA to rediscover live and local.
