Yet I’m still not over the axing of Modern Digital, it was better than whatever Garbage the M’s came out.
Yes they are not giving their digital stations much time to grow an audience.
You’re quite right. Triple M have chopped and changed their DAB stations too much. Remember the fiasco of axing Classic Rock, then bringing it back. Probably the dumbest thing that’s been done on DAB to date.
Agreed. Triple M’s digital offerings have gone to crap.
One that I do like listening to (and purely musical choice) is Triple M country. Little bit repetitive with the new music but that’s no different to the Hit model. Each night at 5 they play a top 20 countdown. Wish they would add a few announcers.
On the DAB front:
No the dumbest thing was axing Novanation and Koffee…
Yep! Normally at work the m’s greatest hit channel would be on all day, no one would change it, it was great for background music. The last two days, it has been changed more times than ever before.
It is , soft rock channel with the “love god” of whatever its called sounds like a soft porn channel instead. Ffs the m’s always changing things that don’t need to be changed.
In their defence, they would be doing market research. In the age of Spotify and YouTube they must be trying to find those niche music formats that those actually listening to DAB want.
Probably why MMM Modern Digital didn’t last. That particular audience doesn’t listen to DAB/FM/Radio anymore
It is mentioned in the RDS thread about the old Triple M localised website URLs.
Can anyone remember which markets had which URLs?
Which market had triplem.com.au and who had mmm.com.au?
I can recall how confusing it was back then. The majority of listeners would’ve just typed triplem.com.au.
Yeah I remember that! Not sure if it was some iinet advertising thing, or they couldn’t be bothered/too cheap to use a proper domain.
Triple M Sydney used mrock.com.au for a while (https://web.archive.org/web/20030212122028/http://www.mrock.com.au/index.php)
mmm.com.au, mrock.com.au are actually still registered to Austereo, and mmm redirects to triplem.com.au
I remember ROX FM Port Macquarie having a convoluted URL in the late 90s before domain names became such a thing.
It was something like midcoast.com.au/users/roxfm
It wasn’t promoted on air, was pretty basic looking (but par for the course back then) with program and presenter info and not much else.
Yeah the four sites were “mrock” for Sydney, “Triplemrocks” for Brisbane, “mytriplem” for Adelaide and “mmmelb” for Melbourne.
The main Triple M site used to just link to all of them, up until they were able to make it remember your city.
I seem to remember Brisbane being fm104.com.au ?
Must have been before 1997 as that URL does indeed work on archive.org, but it comes up with a 404 not found when loading from a 1997 capture. There are no captures before then.
I did have success loading a Rox FM page from 1999, but no images can be loaded. That domain is now used by the Roxby Downs community radio station Rox FM.
Without getting my head bitten off haha - am I the only one kind of enjoying the 90s station? Some songs you wouldn’t hear on the normal MMM and from what I’ve heard I think it’s a pretty good mix!
Sinead O’Connor? Triple M 90s Rock?
More like Smooth 90s
Triple M Country?
They need to start up a new Triple M station that just plays a mix of all the music heard on the Triple M branded stations in Australia.
They could call it “Triple M Cluster F*ck”.
I agree. Stations need to go back to variety. That’s why coles has been so successful. Triple m 80s, 90’s, modern, Aussie, classic hits & rock, country with some announcers. I wouldn’t switch it off
