Nice spot for it. Easy drive from Perth (by WA standards) and you can fly direct from SYD/MEL.

triple j’s One Night Stand sells out in record time

Buckle up, Busso! triple j’s One Night Stand 2025 has officially sold out.

After a big week dropping clues, triple j finally revealed Busselton as the location for this year’s One Night Stand and South West WA has wasted no time bringing the heat.

Local music lovers snapped up the tickets in less time than it takes to drive to Geraldton (around 6 hours for those playing at home), paving the way for what promises to be an incredible night of Australian music. The stacked 2025 edition of triple j’s One Night Stand includes Spacey Jane, LUUDE, Ruby Fields, 3%, Blusher, Velvet Trip, and a soon-to-be-announced local triple j Unearthed competition winner.

Head of triple j, Double J and ABC Country Lachlan Macara shares: “We knew the South West would come through in big numbers for this lineup, but we’re blown away at how quickly these tickets have gone out the door. To sell out in under 6 hours says a lot - and it says it very loudly - about the appetite for live Australian music in regional areas. Almost 50% of all ticket holders are 24 and under, showing just how keen young Aussies are for this experience. Busselton - we cannot wait to put on an unforgettable show for you come late May!”

That’s a wrap on triple j’s One Night Stand 2025

WA, we missed you! After nearly a decade, triple j’s One Night Stand returned to Western Australia, with over 15,000 music lovers pouring into Barnard Park, Busselton on Wardandi Boodja for one huge, unforgettable night of Australian music.

Saturday 24 May 2025 marks a One Night Stand we’ll be talking about for years to come. WA icons Spacey Jane lit up the stage with a soul-stirring singalong, every lyric echoed back at them with love. LUUDE followed with an explosive masterclass in drum and bass to round out the night. Ruby Fields brought raw emotion to the stage, her vocals hitting even harder live. 3% took command with a fiery sunset set, dropping a powerful moment that featured a surprise special guest appearance from Inkabee and Flewnt. Blusher were a total force, blending slick choreo with a cameo from Jordi of San Cisco. Velvet Trip shimmered on the big stage, while local legends and triple j Unearthed Competition Winners Fool Nelson proved they were right at home in Busselton.

triple j’s One Night Stand 2025 was a loud reminder of the incredible music being made in our own backyard, with a lineup that resonated from the stage to the screen, and far beyond. Check out the highlights:

  • $230,000 and counting raised for One Night Stand charity partners including Australian music industry charities Support Act and The Push, and local organisations Karri Karrack Aboriginal Corporation and Undalup Association.
  • Four million views and counting on One Night Stand content across the campaign on triple j socials and YouTube.
  • 30% increase in streams of triple j on Saturday 24 May via web and app.
  • Over four hours of live Australian music beamed straight into the hearts (and headphones) of music lovers across the country.
  • Four packed out More Than A One Night Stand Sessions for emerging local artists and industry featuring Spacey Jane, DICE and Fool Nelson, run in partnership with West Australian Music and Music Australia.

Head of triple j, Double J and ABC Country Lachlan Macara shares: “What a day! And what an undeniable display of both the calibre of artists this country produces and the appetite for live Australian music in the regions. A number of the artists on this year’s bill grew up in regional towns and had formative experiences at past editions of triple j’s One Night Stand. We can only hope there were plenty of young people on that oval on Saturday equally inspired to feature in a future One Night Stand. See you again somewhere around the country in 2026!”

triple j is incredibly grateful for the amazing support from West Australian music lovers. A huge thank you to our audience, artists, production crews, staff, partners and the entire town of Busselton – we couldn’t have done it without you.

Interesting that this happens after the Hottest 100 that featured the lowest ever number of Aussie songs.

Will the shortlist have much of an impact, or will people import their own votes?

And… any guesses as to who’ll win?

I think the No.1 song will be from either AC/DC, Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel, INXS, or Crowded House.

As usual, there are a few eligibility caveats. Firstly, eligible songs are any tracks which were released prior to Jan. 19, 2025, and must feature a minimum 50% of Australian artists. As a result, New Zealand artists (who are often considered honorary Australians) are ineligible, though Crowded House are eligible, despite being formed by Neil Finn after the dissolution of Split Enz and his move from New Zealand to Australia.

Notably, tracks recorded for triple j’s long-running Like a Version cover series are not eligible either. Though perennial favorites of triple j’s annual Hottest 100 countdown, the series received its own poll back in 2023, with DMA’S reigning supreme with their acoustic cover of Cher’s “Believe.”

Its an interesting one - I suspect someone like Powerfinger or Silverchair might be a chance. Hunters & Collectors polled well in the previous All Time countdowns too.

I reckon TISM will be in the top 10.

I don’t think any of their songs will be on the shortlist, too commercial.

Something like Gotye & Kimba “Somebody I Used To Know” which was a Triple J song before it became big in mainstream, could be No 1.

Has anybody here tried to vote yet?

Not trying to pile on Triple J for preparing what must be an epic number of songs to include, but it’s a bit challenging. Many artists are barely represented if at all (although you can write any song in that you wish), and there’s some shockers like calling Mi Sex an Australian band when Kiwi bands are specifically not allowed (Crowded House being the honourable exception given they formed here).

Mind you, even just scrolling through the limited list they do have has been fun. There’s some great music there.

Started my shortlist by going through the music on the Triple J list - I suspect I’ll add more before starting to remove some (and I’m sure I’ve missed some)

I would rate Great Southern Land ahead of Electric Blue for Icehouse.

I wish it was hottest 100 Australian songs of the year instead of all time
Going to be cold chisel, acdc, crowded house, go betweens
Not far off Gold 104
Would rather be forced to hear newer stuff

Had to make some tough decisions myself, though I’m pretty happy with what I picked (even if my taste is exceedingly mainstream)

I’m hoping The Vaughans make it! It’s the 30th anniversary of that epic tune after all.
