They need to upgrade their fleet ,some of their aircraft are over 20 years old
I canât believe Qantas is already planning to replace its A380 fleet.
Bonza launches LST to OOL route. First flight from November 21.
I can. they are expensive to run, they have a negative impact on route flexibility and the envisaged hub and spoke model they were designed to service did not pan out.
Iâve gone on a working holiday to melbs for the next few days.
As I type this in quite impressed with the size of flinders st station and how big it is.
Very keen to go to the G today and tomorrow, then Marvel on Sunday.
Any suggestions for bars with a good after work vibe?
Iâve just returned from a quick trip up to Townsville ,obviously I didnât drive there this time, travelled up and back with Jetstar, this time they didnât cancel my flights.
I was up there as Mums old friend turned 90 last weekend ,Iâve known her and her family for about 46 years,a long time.
Most of their aircraft are over 15 years old ,though I think they might now have 1 or 2 of the newer Airbus planes
Next trip,New Zealand ,only about 3 hours from Brisbane, have to get my passport first.
Iâm still a plane nerd,I always check Flight Radar 24 to see which way my aircraft went, I always choose a window seat and try to spot my suburb from the window, most times if flying north I usually do,sometimes when landing tooâ:airplane:depending on wind and weather conditions
QT Rooftop is quite nice. I would also recommend Morris House if you are up the top end of the city. It was completely refurbished a few weeks ago and is now a pretty fancy multi level venue.
Thank you so much, we were looking at QT as we have that in p town.
I had gone to the mail exchange and loved it.
Southern cross is way too overwhelming for me but I love the complex.
At the G right now and is a complete vibe.
I donât barrack for either pies or bombers but is looking good.
Very keen for freo hawks tomorrow though lfg

The topic of the federal government blocking Qatar Airwaysâ request for more Australian flights was covered on ABCâs 7.30 last week.
Qatar Airways and the Qatari governmentâs pathetic response to the assault on those Australian women on the flight in October 2020 is a good enough reason to restrict them in the first place.
If they finally take full responsibility and properly compensate these women, then we can reconsider. Until then though they do not deserve any support.
Perhaps this is the main reason but the federal government does not state it publicly, as it could affect diplomatic relations between Australia and Qatar, and also the victimsâ lawsuit against Qatar Airways.
And this is what travel and competition experts have forgotten about in recent weeks.
Flight Centre published a full page ad in todayâs papers, asking the federal government to allow Qatar Airways to provide an additional 28 flights into Australia.
What doesnât appear to be clear in all this is whether the Government is objecting to Qatar specifically or to allowing additional slots to any foreign airline. The Governmentâs claim that itâs not in our national interest and an unwillingness to elaborate why comes across as protectionist.
My irks with this whole shenanigan is that if the government blocks the extra flights to âprotectâ Australian interests and business (ala. Qantas) then they should set conditions for Qantas to be able to use those slots to actually expand and operate new flights to new destinations (e.g. Qantas should use those slots that Qatar wanted to operate new flights to Asia, Europe, Americas etc). A âUse it or Lose itâ kind of deal.
Instead, what the current decision does is protecting Qantas and their ever-conservative international expansion whilst Australian consumers lose out on increased competition that can lead to cheaper airfares. It only encourages mediocrity from the national carrier who we should be expecting better from.
Manison said two flights a week would be dropped from the Alice Springs route and a number of temporary changes introduced to facilitate the runway upgrade.
Manison said temporary schedule changes would impact flights between Alice Springs and Darwin while the Top End runway upgrades were completed.
âThis is a six-week period. Weâre going to see a reduction of the Darwin to Alice Springs services from 14 [flights] a week to nine,â she said.
âThatâs when theyâre doing some of the more challenging middle sections of the runway in Darwin.â
