The government has also guaranteed Rex’s regional flight slots at Sydney Airport until October 2026.
It also revealed it will spend $12 million to upgrade regional airports across NSW.
This includes a $3.8 million investment in Merimbula Airport’s runway extension, $5 million for runway upgrades at Albury Airport and other commitments at Mudgee, Griffith, and Moree airports.
Virgin Australia’s planned tie-up with Qatar Airways has inched closer to reality after the competition watchdog decided in favour of the deal.

Due to renovations at Sydney Airport’s Terminal 2 from April 2025 to late 2026, Rex will temporarily operate departing flights from Gate 14 in Terminal 3. However, arrivals will continue to land at Terminal 2, including baggage claim areas.
Passengers connecting to other Rex flights through Sydney will need to transfer from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3.
It would have been worse at Brisbane domestic terminal what with the current renovations going on there now
The issue for them, is 80% or more of Bali traffic is the ‘flip flop’ brigade as they refer to it as.
The target demographic they seem to be targeting is heading out east to the pacific islands.
Bali will always be bogan. I know cashed up Elite from places like Brighton and Manly who still head off to Bali, and they dress for it too, in bogan wear. I think it’s a place where people regardless of wealth, just like to chill and be all bogan.
I think the Balinese have greater issues to deal with, perhaps focus on the Russian invasion in the tourist areas. That is who the locals seems to have issues with, not the flip floppers.
The Australian Government has given their approval for Qatar Airways stake in Virgin Australia subject to conditions.

Heard the funniest airport announcement ever this morning in the terminal at Las Vegas on the way to New Orleans.
“Mr William McDowell, your wife has been trying to ring you, her car broke down so she won’t be able to pick you up this afternoon. Please use the $17 she gave you to get a taxi to go as far as you can and walk the rest of the way”.
It was said in the slowest drawl ever, took about a minute for the guy to read it out. Everyone in the terminal was laughing their heads off.

This is scary. How did this teen manage to board a plane with a shotgun?
The boy allegedly pushed a hole in the airport fence while dressed as a maintenance worker in hi-vis and wearing a tool belt.
Serious security issues if someone can do that.
With the Avalon Australian International Airshow fast approaching at the end of the month, there are definitely some significant security concerns. Given the scale of the event, you’d think security measures would have been strengthened by now.
It’s also worth noting that commercial flights continue to operate to and from Avalon during the Airshow.
