Qantas management was aware the airline was selling tickets for flights that had already been cancelled, according to a report issued by the ACCC around the ghost flights saga.
The statement of agreed facts was issued by the ACCC, and is subject to approval by the Federal Court.
“Senior managers responsible for different aspects of Qantas’ systems and operations knew: That flights the subject of a cancellation decision were not immediately removed from sale; that some consumers could and did make bookings on flights after those flights had been the subject of a cancellation decision; that consumers who had made bookings on flights that were the subject of a cancellation decision were not notified of that decision immediately,” the ACCC wrote.
The management also knew “the Manage Booking Pages for flights that were the subject of a cancellation decision were not updated to reflect that decision promptly, although no single person knew all these matters.”
The ACCC acknowledged that Qantas had since automated this process so these errors cannot occur again.
I think this happened along the east coast - also reported as Brisbane’s busiest day of the year.

Took the Eurostar from London to Paris today, by far the quickest I’ve been on land, sections ran parallel to the freeway north of Paris at 298 km/h. Great experience whizzing past the traffic at nearly triple their speed, will be hard to go back to the Sydney to Newcastle VST (max 115 km/h but only very briefly) after that!
Only complaint was patchy WiFi / mobile, didn’t seem to have great coverage.
I find it just as quick as well. Like Paris to London by the time you get to the respective airports it’s about the same length. The train stations are normally in the centre of cities so it is convenient then to get to where you are staying.
How much were your Eurostar tickets? I did Brussels to London and I think that was 90 euro. A little morr than a flight but when I factored in paying for baggage and the train from Gatwick to the city it ended up being cheaper on train.
Good value, considering a one way fare on the slow and hopelessly out of date XPT from Newcastle to the Gold Coast (coach from Casino) in July was $139.
