I heard a radio ad about the new T1 departures area on 3AW breakfast this week.

Here is the press release about the new stores:

Can the Transport Minister start slapping these airlines with million dollar fines for poor performance.

I mean, 60% or below is just poor, perhaps $1m per month fine. According to monthly reporting, Virgin was low 50s last month. The other big players in the 60s.

Virgin has screwed me over more times in the last month or two vs the last decade.

It’s just like Management just don’t care anymore. Looking back at historic performance results 5-10 years ago, numbers seemed to be 80% mark.

The sooner Bain sells VA the better for everyone.

I have a few trips booked with VA for the next few weeks. Let’s hope it keeps on track.

Never any accountability in Private Equity sadly.

I will be flying with VA to Sydney in mid January (my first trip on the airline since 2019) and the latest stats make me nervous.

Just don’t go what I did any fly on the last flight of the day. Ended up booking Jetstar last minute to avoid being stuck

How does Sydney Airport not have the screening capabilities of having to go through security without having to remove technology (laptops, iPads etc) from carryon luggage?

Not sure of T1 departures at Melbourne Airport but the T3 & T4 security is so much easier to go through and quicker. Just put your bag in a tray and on the way you go. No need to remove every piece of technology.

I did notice that that Sydney domestic terminal 2 is going through a bit of a renovation so hopefully something might come out of that.

The equipment isn’t cheap and while the existing equipment is still functional (and accredited), it can be hard to justify the expenditure.

But it is 100% worth the investment.

T3 QANTAS domestic does. I just went through there 2 hours ago.

Link Airways have relocated their Melbourne operations from Essendon (YMEN) to Tullamarine (YMML). Today was their first day out of their Tullamarine base from T4.

A change that has surprisingly been met with some resistance - being unscreened and less chaotic seems to be the big issues.
