ABC is developing a TV drama about the Melbourne woman accused of murdering her guests with poisoned mushrooms.
Seems a little dangerous to announce this before the trial is over… Right?
Do we really need this?
I thought ABC had purchased a documentary on Britney Spears named for her song.
I thought making this sort of crap was a Channel 7 or 9 kind of thing?
You mean 7s four reporters AREN’T there for a documentary being made?
I hope it’s not as bad as the rushed “Underbelly Vanishing Act” TV Movie on Nine about Melissa Caddick… or will it be?
To be honest, we don’t need this drama - any time soon.
Clearly abc have fallen low below the belt with this. Stupid to be quite frank.
this seems unusually opportunistic for ABC. Not sure why they’d go for this. This sort of kneejerk commissioning is Channel 9 telemovie territory. ABC should be better than this especially given the scarcity of drama commissions they make nowadays. What other pitches were pushed aside to rush this one through?
It was only a matter of time. If it wasn’t them it would be Netflix. Also the worldwide interest in the story means there will be a buying market for it internationally
Waiting for the stage adaption and then the musical version.
I’m not surprised that someone is making a drama, but I’m surprised that the ABC are the one’s doing it, especially announcing it before the outcome of the trial.
This is unsurprising given how well their Mushroom Case Daily podcast has been going.
Hugh Marks making his mark?
I don’t think this was kneejerk at all, it was rumored months and months ago that pitches were floating around for a drama about the events.
I’d rather see ABC do something a bit more topical and risqué, than pump out more forgettable dramas which tick certain boxes and quotas.
I think if it’s done well, this could be huge for the ABC both locally and abroad. Their version of Mr Bates vs The Post Office?
